Now, get a zipper plastic shopping bag of a similar size. If you don’t have one lying around the house, you can purchase it from a local store. They are generally quite affordable.

Now, use scissors to remove the handles from the shopping bag. Make sure not to cut the plastic or it will make way for rainwater to enter.

Now, the pillow cover is ready to use. Stuff the pillow inside and close the zip. Cover the pillow with a plastic bag to add an extra layer of protection. You can keep this pillow with a waterproof cover on your patio chair, bench or swing.

Determine the top and bottom sides of the fabric. Place the top sides of both fabric pieces together. Line the zipper on whichever side you want. Secure it with the help of pins on both ends.

Insert the pillow gently into the pillow cover. Adjust the pillow so that it fills all four corners. If you are not a fan of zippers, you can skip them and sew the open end of the cover at this step. Your outdoor pillow with a waterproof pillow cover is ready to be used.

Put on the patio furniture covers before you spray the pillows. You can also cover the furniture using cardboard or newspapers.

Spray a small area of the pillow with the water-repellent fabric protector. Allow the spray to dry completely. Then check the sprayed area for any marks or discoloration.

If you are satisfied with the results, spray the entire pillow with this fabric protector. Keep a distance of 6 inches between the bottle and the pillow.

Let the sprayed pillow air dry completely. Once the spray has dried out, you can keep the pillow on your patio furniture. Remember to apply the fabric protector once every year.
