How to Change a Ceiling Fan Light Bulb

Have a ceiling fan light not working properly? It could just mean that you need a new light bulb. If the light bulb won’t turn on or you see the ceiling fan lights flicker, you might have an old bulb that needs replacement. Like the light fixtures in your home, ceiling fans also require occasional light bulb changes. Though it’s not difficult to change a light bulb in a ceiling fan, it’s imperative to use caution when working with any electrical appliance.  Before getting started, make sure you have the necessary tools to complete this task safely.

Instructions

Safe Bulb Disposal

There are many types of light bulbs, and each type may require a different disposal technique. Some light bulbs, like compact fluorescent lights (CFLs), contain mercury. Because of this, they’re considered hazardous waste and can’t be thrown out with regular household trash. Regulations for proper bulb disposal vary by region so you’ll want to first check your local guidelines for safe recycling of light bulbs. Some Lowe’s stores may accept certain types of light bulbs in their in-store recycling centers. Contact your local store for details.
