Remove the hanging chains and liner mats from the two baskets. Set the chains aside to reuse later.
To form a globe, place the baskets with the rim straps together so that the other straps on each basket align as closely as possible. Use cable ties to hold the basket rim straps tightly together. Use scissors or wire cutters to remove the surplus ends of the ties at each connection.
Loop the LED lights around the outside of the globe following the straps (a strand of about 50 to 60 lights). Use cable ties to hold the wire in place. Add a second strand to complete the lighting. Tuck the circuitry boxes and cord connections inside and at the top of the globe. The plug end of the light cord should be at the top on the outside.
To economize on this project, you can also use strings of incandescent Christmas lights rated for outdoor use.
Loop one section of chain from the basket under the disk at the top of the globe. Connect the ends to another chain section to form the hanger. Tie the hanger to an overhead structure or hook to hang the light, and run a suitable extension cord to the plug on the globe.
