Cut ½"×2'×4' plywood (#6200) into 2' sections. Prime one ½"×2'×2' section. Let dry. Sand with fine-grit sand paper and wipe clean.
Using a 4" roller, paint the front, back, and sides of the board with chalkboard paint (#203261). Apply three thin coats. Allow each coat to dry completely before painting the next coat. (Follow manufacture recommendations for drying times.)
Using a T-square or a straightedge, measure 7" of the painted portion of the front of the board. Tape off the vertical line with painter's tape.
Paint the 7" taped-off portion on the front of the board with Hacienda Tile (#94101, 2010-4). Allow to dry. For an aged look, rub a wax candle vertically over the Hacienda Tile section. Paint over with one coat of Clove Bud (#94101, 2004-5B). Let dry. Sand vertically with medium-grit sandpaper to expose Hacienda Tile. Wipe clean.
Choose a font and size for the "Salud" stencil. The font size should allow the letters to fill the painted portion, leaving 1" on the top, bottom, and both sides. (We used Braggadocio.) Print letters. Tape clear stencil plastic over letters; cut out with a craft knife. Arrange stencils on chalkboard. One letter at a time, fill in stencils with thin layers of chalkboard paint. Allow each layer to dry completely before painting the next.
On top edge of board, pre-drill holes for screw eyes. Attach. Tie a piece of sisal rope to the screw eyes for hanging.
