Front Door Decorations

Brought to you by Lowe's Creative Ideas

Change your home entry to add curb appeal to suit every season or holiday with the right combination of colors, decorations, and plants.

Decorated entry doors with potted plants.

Start with a Reliabilt three-lite door, surrounded by wide white trim, to provide an attractive backdrop for decorations you can change with the season. Next add aged bronze house numbers (#58901, #59050, 58948, #59108) and a matt-black handleset (#532101). White light fixtures (#432326, Model 5181TW) keep the show going after dark. Now let your imagination go to work borrowing elements from these colorful vignettes.

Front-Door Daisies

Reinforce the front door color (Fore and Aft, #HGSW1324) with a matching welcome mat (#667771). Then send guests a greeting with a pot-mounted flag (#756383) on a metal pole (#3631). Soft touches include Eugenia topiaries standing tall over petunias, lysimachia, and verbena. Smaller pots hold dracaena, petunias, and lysimachia, while a door-mounted basket showcases gerbera daisies.

Merry Gold

Frame a seasonal flag celebrating Easter (#756184) with this buttercup yellow door (Dutch Tulip, #HGSW1183). Tall Sky Pencil holly towers over calibrachoa, verbena, and petunias. The smaller pots house a mix of dracaena, calibrachoa, verbena, and petunias, with gerbera daisies filling a pot of their own on the right. Complementing these flowers are ones you can stencil on the DIY welcome mat (#190044).

Entry door with an Independence Day theme.

Red, White, and New

Give a bold red door (Red Tanager, #HGSW1062) an equally bold patriotic theme, starting with a basket of gerbera daisies and flags at eye level. Hang a flag (#204455) from a metal pole (#3631) and add smaller staked flags in pots painted to match. Majesty palms rise above red and white gerbera daisies, petunias. The red, white, and blue welcome mat is a project you can make in a weekend.

A starburst decoration and container garden add punches of color to this entryway.

Bursts of Color

A do-it-yourself starburst provides a color counterpoint to this garden-fresh door color (Clever Mantis, #HGSW2224). Flanking container arrangements feature Sky Pencil holly as the backdrop for petunia and calibrachoa. Smaller pots hold gerbera daisies on the left and, on the right, another helping of petunias, verbena, dracaena, calibrachoa, and lobelia. A floral welcome mat picks up the theme.

A summer-theme flag decorates a sunny-color door.

Sunny Disposition

As if the door mounted flag (#756386) weren’t welcoming enough against the sunny color selected for this front door (Emberglow, #HGSW1104), a pair of majesty palms wave their greeting in the breeze. More subtle color comes from the crossandra, coleus, and calibrachoa planted beneath the palms, with coleus, petunia, and dracaena in the smaller pots. A DIY parquet welcome mat can be painted the color of your choice (Clever Mantis, #HGSW2224, and Untamed Yellow, #HGSW1174, shown).
