Step 1

If the surfaces have an existing finish that’s already smooth, sand them with a 220-grit sanding sponge and wipe them clean with a moist cloth. For slightly rough surfaces, sand with 180- and 220-grit sanding sponges, and wipe clean.

Step 2

Remove the drawers from the dresser or chest. Tape off the furniture as necessary. Paint the frame of the chest in Cliveden Virginia Soil.

Step 3

Tape off the drawers, if necessary, so that the fronts can be painted. Using a mini roller, paint the top drawers in Gypsy Teal. Paint the middle drawer in Twilight Meadow. Paint the bottom drawers in Desert Hotsprings. Repeat with a second coat of paint, if needed. Let dry, then reassemble.

Good to Know

Some drawers have a detachable front connected to the drawer box. If that’s the case, unscrew the front from the box, label them for later reassembly, and paint the drawer front separately before reassembling the drawer.
