I have purchased three of these hose reels for different properties and this is leaps and bounds above any other hose reel out there. I bought my first one around six years ago and it has held up beautifully with only minor rusting. It appears the new models have an even better finish than the original one, so it should hold up even better. Easy to get the hose back in the container.

Rewinding is the best part of this reel. It is almost effortless to get 100 feet of hose right back into the storage container. However, pulling the hose from the reel is another matter. It often becomes tangled on the other hose that is on the reel so that it pulls the container over. You have to open the top and untangle the hose which sometimes means pulling it out with one hand and manipulating the hose with the other. Looks nice, well made, only fits 125ft of hose.

I have had it a few weeks now and have used it almost daily in that time. It looks good, and has a nice smooth action. The connections are solid and don't leak, but time will tell on those. I worry a bit about the belt that connects the crank handle to the spool, so I pull the hose with one hand to generate a bit of slack and crank the handle with the other hand to reel it in. I purchased this hose reel from Lowe's to replace a leaking reel that had given me years of service. The key word they use to describe the Ames Reel is NeverLeak which I found out was a far cry from reality. NeverLeak Steel 150-ft Hideaway Hose Reel

Bought this and a 100' heavy duty hose. The 100' heavy duty hose takes up almost all the space of this 150' box, which leads me to believe the 150' is of garbage green yard hose that lasts 3months, maybe. Good product, but has a manufacturing defect

Overall, this is a good product that is better than many of the other plastic hose reels. The male threads that you are supposed to connect your hose to appear to be made of cast aluminum, and the mould appears to be defective. I returned one and had the same problem with another.
