Maytag Top-Load Washer with Agitator & Vented Gas Dryer Set

Never hated a purchase so much. Run.

I’ll try to make this short, but we had machines that worked just fine from the early 00’s but my wife and I thought we should upgrade. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!

Maytag washer and dryers are no longer a quality brand. Whirlpool Corporation that purchased Maytag isn’t interested in hearing from its customers and makes it nearly impossible to report service issues. Phone calls, emails and the mail system will leave customers in the lurch to attempt to get any resolution for poor quality design combined with electronic components that are just unreliable. ISSUES

Steer clear from this washer unless you want to work on it yourself. Had this washer for 2 years and suddenly got a code for washer not being able to spin. Tried contacting Maytag to no avail calling and tried the live chat feature which kept telling me to go to a website. Under my own deduction I think it is the actuator or capacitor two things that shouldn't need replaced after two years of only two people using it. Problems

I washed 2 loads of clothing and the start button would not work. I had to unplug it to reset it. It worked again but then the button wouldn't start again. Had to reset it (holding button for 15 seconds) every time I had to use it. Then the control panel lit up and wasn't even touching it. I really like Maytag but this was returned and I'm buying another brand.

Broke x2 < 60 days

Follow up to prior review...although Maytag team response seemed concerned, the methods to contact are the usual service line. Response was warranty is for repair only and when escalation team called, said could not offer another solution. No concern for the fact that I spent 3.5 months going to the laundromat and am doing that again!

Terrible Loud Gear Grinding Noise heard over house

This machine makes Loud Gear Grinding noise from first use. We called Lowes Bossier City who gave us a "service " number that is Never answered after repeated attempts. We are Very Disappointed. Our first Maytag lasted about 16 months. New washer also is difficult to start.

So far great! We replaced our 13 year old Maytag bravo xl with great sadness. It was the best washing machine ever so this one we hope lives a long life as well!

better buy the extended warranty - you'll need it

We purchased this washer in March 2023 and initially liked it. We did not purchase the extended warranty as Maytag has (we thought) an exceptionally good quality and long lived product. However it stopped working with error code F9E1 a week ago. Evidently this model has a design flaw with the wiring harness so it breaks very easily with use and the 10 year warranty does not cover it. I bought this washer from Lowe’s in April 2026 Kids delivered it. I tried starting a load. No water would even cover any of the clothes. I hollered to the kids. They looked at me and said not our problem. Call the office. So I called Lowe’s. Apparently since it was not put on a Lowe’s Credit card, they do not go good for it. I said what?
