What Customers Are Saying
The compressor is praised for its exceptional quietness, allowing for use in indoor and confined spaces without disturbing others. It is also noted for its portability, with features like wheels and a handle that make it easy to move around. The compressor is reported to be suitable for light-duty tasks around the home, such as inflating tires, powering nailers, and blowing dust off tools. However, some customers have experienced issues with the regulator and the unit shutting off unexpectedly, and a few users felt it may not be suitable for more demanding applications.

I love this little compressor. So far no problems. My complaint isn't actually with the compressor itself. It is quiet enough that when it is running, I can still hear an audiobook on my Meta Wayfarers. I purchased it to (some) of the work out of some framing in my new workshop and it has delivered. The first round head nail that I sent thru it drove 1/4" into the board. I use a wheelchair and with meds, I can stand a few minutes at a time. I was able to put up furring strips on the rafters to ...

Pressure Regulator Knob poorly made
My only complaint with this is the cheap plastic Pressure Regulator knob. It's a splined or knurled plastic female knob that attachés to a steel splined or knurled male shaft. To replace it they send you a new manifold because that knob is glued to the shaft so you have to replace the whole manifold. I replaced it once and made sure I was extra gentle with it (no aver tightening). I am now on my third repair with the same problem! Warranty and support from was very good. Kobalt definitely need...
Unboxing and test fire up review
Wow! Ultra quiet. As in, difficult to believe it's an air compressor quiet. In the garage with the door opened or closed it was easy to hold a conversation as it ran. Using my phone's Db app I recorded the ambient garage background level (garage door closed) at 29.0 Db. With the compressor running the sound pressure level was 65.5 Db at 3' distance to the unit and 64.8 at 10' distance. Whatever the actual numbers are, this thing is just amazingly quiet A very limited recommendation of this unit...
Everyone is right
There's a serious quality control issue with this compressor. It lasted me 8 months and died. Lowes will not exchange outside of their standard 3 month policy. I recommend looking at Harbor Freight's Fortress series if you are in the market for a quiet air compressor in the same price range. Read through the reviews carefully for this Kobalt compressor before you make your decision.
Purchased 2 of these. 1st one lasted almost 2 months. Hooking up the second one today. Find a better air compressor if you need something dependable.

Consider another option
Bad regulators - slow fill time - good customer service - very quiet I owned the 2 gal model and thought the "quiet tech" was pretty awesome actually. Slow fill time took the overall experience down a notch. Over heating protection seemed to engage too soon. After 5 months though, the regulator seemed to give out, no pressure was building. Tried all the troubleshooting and called customer service. I could wait 2 months for a regulator or exchange it in store. I had some projects so, I exchanged...

Same thing happened to me as others indicated. I bought and used it for a couple of months but then all of a sudden it quit building pressure. It was running, but no pressure ever built. I took it to Lowe’s and they replaced it. Exact same thing happened to the second one, only this time it was only after 1 day of use.
same as other users
I wish I had read the reviews before buying my unit. Mine lasted over 1 year, but I don't use it daily. It is extremely quiet (especially now that it doesn't run anymore!), and I loved it when it worked. Now I need to buy another brand, because I don't want to be caught in bind when a new one fails.
avoid like the plaque
I purchased one it lasted for a couple of months. I'm a diyer, don't use it heavy or everyday. keep it clean and in my shop. Go to use it and it just won't fill up, then it wouldn't cut on like it over heated. Contacted kobalt so I got a replacement and the samething happened to the 2nd one.
Not used yet-my hoses and nozzles are in storage
A Lowe's employee showed me on her tablet that I could get the compressor online for $179, but when I tried I learned that price wasn't a legitimate price.
