What Customers Are Saying
The tool is generally praised for its ease of use and ability to quickly and consistently crimp RJ-45 connectors, producing clean, reliable connections. The feed-through design is reported to simplify wire alignment. However, some users have experienced issues with the tool's ability to fully cut the wires, leading to inconsistent results. Overall, the tool is considered a high-quality and efficient crimper, though its performance may vary depending on the specific connectors used.

I bought this crimper based on all the good reviews here. The one I bought was defective. I failed 100% of my attempts to manufacture a good CAT cable product, going through about 12 IDEAL RJ-45 pass-through connectors and 6 cables, which is a record even for me. Doing ring tests failed pin 1 and sometimes also pin 7 consistently for my 568B wiring configuration. After removing the razor cutter to reveal the die teeth, I finally noticed the first tooth was noticably shorter than the rest. P...
The absolute best Feed Through crimpers hands down
I waited about 4 weeks for my local Lowe's to get this particular model of crimper in. For a professional, who makes a living doing data these are a god send when the people you work for send you a new type of connector. The company I work for decided to transition to the feed thru plugs, and even purchased a "top of the line" (expensive) crimper for me to use, I started having issues from the start, feeding the wires through was difficult, the crimp left the number 1 and number 8 wires half att...

Slowman good to hear! Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
Meh.
I bought the Ideal crimper since I own other Ideal tools that have worked very well over the years. I was running ethernet cable for an NVR camera system in my home and needed to to 8-10 runs. I figured I would save money and buy a spool of cable and crimp my own ends. 9/10 times this crimper will not cut one of the end wires off clean. It might hang off and you need to trim it with a razor blade, or it might cut off but not clean leaving a very tiny length of cable protruding from the R...

Hi Jon12 did you use our connectors? The tool is designed to work well with them Please let me know Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
An excellent crimp system for home network usage.
I received the Ideal Modular Crimp Tool Data Crimper along with about ten of the special connectors that the tool requires. I was also provided with a couple of short pieces of CAT5 cable to test the connections with. The system has open ends on the connector, allowing you to easily feed the smaller wires straight through the connector. Once you have the wires in the order you require (examples are given on the packaging showing the different wiring schemes), just slide them through the connecto...
blkadder thanks for the feedback the tool will work with standard modular plugs as well that are not the feed thru type if you prefer those. Take car...
Perfect tool for crimping
As indicated, this was sent to me as part of the Lowe's Loop program. They included some scrap cable/remnants and plugs to facilitate this review - you most likely will just get the bare tool. I used the included cables and plugs to create a couple of patch cables. This is probably the only way I will ever make a neat patch cord. My trouble has always been trying to get just the right amount of insulation off so that the crimp part has something to grip onto. Well, that problem is solved wit...
Easiest crimper to use
Wow I have been using the old RJ45 crimpers and let me tell you this new one with feed thru is the bomb. Holy moly 3 minutes compare to 6 minutes in creating a ethernet cable. Pass thru is well worth the extra $$$. Also this is very effective when doing a network closet and you need to make non standard length cables. Also there is no razor blade that you can cut your finger. Excellent consumer design.

RJ45 or crimper, what is causing the 95% failure
I posted a review on the Ideal pass through RJ45 connectors and that I am seeing about a 95% failure rate on the orange pair. I am using two different crimpers and neither of them seem to work correctly. Both crimpers have produced just one good connection. All others have failed so I believe it is the RJ45 that are bad. Good luck. So frustrating spending hours crimping, testing, cutting of the end, crimping again. Yes I test both ends of the run.
Blade doesn’t cut all wires
Bought this due to reviews of the Klein and having similar issues. Made 5 cables with this tool and every end would not cut the 1 & 8 wires cleanly. On 3 occasions it did not cut the 2 wire. The Klein offers more options for the same price.
Hi Case24pk if I can be of help please let me know Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
Doesn't work
I'm a professional network installer for the past 22 years. This tool doesn't crimp the Ideal RJ-45 modular plugs. I have a 100% pass rate on all connections with other brands. I believe the problem to be the spines in the ideal brand RJ-45 modular plugs aren't going down far enough to make contact therfore cable tests are showing multiple open pins on every connection I make. Ideal needs to step up the QC.
Hey Terry sounds like you can use some help please contact me and we will figure it out thanks Ron at ron.kipper@idealindustries.com
The ONLY way to crimp RJ45s
Whether you are a professional structured cabling installer, or a do-it-yourself'er, this tool is the only way to crimp RJ45s. If you have ever used traditional RJ45s, you know how frustrating and tedious they can be. All of that is solved with this crimp tool used with feed-thru RJ45 ends. This creates the most consistent, low cross talk, proper wire map crimps possible from an end that is not from a factory. For a do-it-yourself'er, don't buy premade cables if you have a few long runs you...
