Gold Bond 5/8-in x 4-ft x 8-ft Fire-Shield Fire Resistant Type X Drywall Panel

Gold Bond® Fire-Shield® Drywall panels consist of a fire-resistant gypsum core encased in heavy natural-finish, 100% recycled paper on the face and back sides. The face paper is folded around the long edges to reinforce and protect the core, and the ends are square-cut and finished smooth. For speed of installation, GridMarX guide marks are printed on the paper surface. Fire-Shield Drywall features a Type X core to provide additional fire resistance ratings when used in laboratory tested systems.

Suitable for walls and ceilings in fire-rated construction.
Type X core is fire resistant and an approved component in UL fire-rated designs.
Features GridMarX® guide marks on the board to allow for faster and more accurate installation.
Achieves UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification for low chemical emissions into indoor air during product usage.
Lightweight, cost-efficient material that readily accepts a wide range of decorative finishes.
Cuts easily for quick installation, permitting painting or other decoration and the installation of metal or wood trim almost immediately.
Dimensionally stable under changes in temperature and relative humidity and resists warping, rippling, buckling, and sagging.
The gypsum core will not support combustion or transmit temperatures greatly in excess of 212°F (100°C) until completely calcined, a slow process.

Customer service is nonexistent

I needed a 2ft x4ft piece of drywall for a ceiling repair job. They only sell a full sheet. Which I did not mind paying for. The problem was I don’t have a truck and needed to cut the board in half to fit it in my station wagon. In a store full of employees half of which are carrying box cutters on their waist belts. bought the cheaper drywall the first round and was not happy on how the mud applied. So glad we bought this the 2nd round. mud goes on nice and looks great after one coat of primer. Worth paying a little extra!

A lift is around 100 to rent but is well worth it.

Would Recommend

Boards were square and fit nicely in ceiling of garage. Be sre to plan for a lift to assist hanging. These are too heavy for even two people.
