What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the washer for its thorough cleaning performance, with many crediting the traditional agitator design for superior results. The large capacity easily handles bulky loads like king-size comforters, and reviewers appreciate the extensive customizable settings including manual water level selection and multiple wash cycles. However, some report excessive noise during operation and occasional balance issues during spin cycles. Despite these drawbacks, most customers consider it highly effective and reliable.

I have this washer and it worked for a year, I’ve been wringing my clothes out by hand for last 6 months. It doesn’t spin the wash water out, fills with rinse water as soon as it drains the wash water. We did purchase the warranty plan through Lowe’s, so, the insurance place sent a digital card for $489 yesterday. The washer is now $599 in store. The repair man did tell me that he’s seen this with many of these GE washers, it’s an issue with them. The repair would cost more than what I paid for ...

Pretty good washing machine
I have had this since mid-July 2026. This is written October 5, 2026. It does a good job cleaning the laundry. The tub is large, king size sheets and pillow cases fit and agitate easily. The bottom of the tub is reachable. There are several selectable water levels and temperatures. . There are a lot of cycles, I mostly only use one of them. It has a spin only that does not spray water. So why not 5 stars? It is very loud. Others mentioned it in their reviews, I didn’t think much about it...

Evaluate Your Drain Pipes Before Buying
After our 5 year old high capacity top loading Maytag washer's spring suspension failed for a second time, in two years, we decided replacing the washer, rather than replacing the springs at a cost of $400. made sense. We bought a GE washer, model GTW485ASWW. One thing that never crossed my mind to research before buying it, was how much water is dumped into the standpipe drain and with how much force. Even with proper loading, use of minimum amount of laundry detergent, adequate water level, ...

Started a complaint with GE, they came out a week or so later, said it needed a part(BRAND NEW WASHER)they'd have to ...

Great machine!!
I absolutely love my new washing machine. We previously have had 2 different brands that were all digital but neither lasted more than 3 years without having to have something worked on or replaced. This one is more basic, which I love. The Lowe's employee who helped us was super polite and helpful.

I'm not one to usually leave reviews about products, but with all the problems I have had, since day one, I feel that I should let others know about not only my experience with the washer, but with attempting to get warranty repairs done through GE Appliances contractor Bodewell. First load after install, and leveling, went out of balance with the drum only 2/3s full of clothes. Second load, of four full, and one queen sheet, twisted them into nearly knots. I could only put either one king size...

Do not buy
If you enjoy having to wash your clothes more than once just to get your detergent off then you are reading the right post. Doesn’t matter what kind of detergent you use, liquid or powder, this machine does not do its job. Worse than a laundry mat washer.

GE was recommended
It's been a month, so far, so good. Clothes come out clean and I like the options provided for water temperature and load size. Appliance repair person recommended GE because they can be repaired and parts are more available. I hope I don't have to repair, though.

Cleans but inconvenient
This GE washer seems to do a good job of cleaning the clothes. There is a learning curve to figuring out how much water you need for each load and using the correct setting to get the clothes clean and rinsed. Therefore not sure about water efficiency. The agitation does making a grinding sound, it's not overly loud unless you're in very close proximity to the washer. The very annoying and very inconvenient aspect of the washer is that you can't just put a load of clothes in and go. You must...

I purchased this machine a month ago, and it performs great. It's quiet, fast, and produces clean results, removing stains completely. The deep agitator holds a lot of clothes, and everything comes out very clean and fresh. I am totally happy with this purchase.
