Nest Replacement but not Equivalent

I was very happy to have a CO-smoke detector that works with the rest of my Nest/Google Home system, but I do miss the way-finder light (also signifying unit status). Easy to replace using the existing Nest mount and Google Home software.

Title: Works exactly as promised This smart photo sensor was easy to set up and has been very reliable. The battery life is excellent, and it responds quickly every time. I like that it works seamlessly with my existing smart home setup. Definitely a great product and worth the purchase.

Not good!

I purchased 5 of these things at the end of July, 2025. I regret the purchase. They were intended to replace NEST PROTECTS that had reached their end of life, I have the APP and only found out how to connect the devices to the APP after they were installed. Don't lose the papers that come with these because you need the QR mark to connect them to the app without climbing back up on a ladder. Good idea, poor execution

Was super excited about this as plug and play for the expired nest protects but the problems started right away. Upon unboxing, the instructions point you to the wrong app. During the installation of one of them, it didn't register properly and I had to call customer service to de-register the unit and register again which was a whole process that involved phone and email. Lot's of room for improvement

I was looking for a replacement for my existing smoke detectors and decided to give this one a go. My primary needs were: 1. I wanted to be able to pause an alert from my phone. Okay Replacement Option for Nest But a Downgrade

Recently purchased several of these First Alert Battery-Operated Smoke and CO2 Detectors to replace my expiring Nest Protect Smoke/C02 Detectors, which had worked with no issues for 10 years using the Nest App and more recently the Google Home App. These First Alert detectors are currently the best option if you want a smart smoke/C02 detector similar to the discontinued Nest detectors, but in my opinion the First Alert detectors fall short and are a downgrade especially given the price poin...
