I bought this to use for smaller limb and tree cutting tasks that I had been using my 12" electric chainsaw for. The 12" chainsaw works great, but maintenance is a hassle. I hate using it for 10min jobs then having to spend 20min cleaning it up. The Reciprocating saw works well and of course maintenance is super easy. Here's the plus/minus of this saw versus a small (12") electric chainsaw Plus: 1. this saw is at least 20x easier to maintain. 2. this saw can saw off small tree stumps right d...
Gets the job done.
The main reason I purchased thing saw was because of it's ergonomic design. With previous reciprocating saws I've used, the standard way they are build worked just fine for standard cuts, but anything requiring an odd angle or tight space would be much more tricky. With it's more compact design and D-handle, I haven't run into any issues when it comes to working in less than ideal conditions. The cutting power is more than enough to accomplish the tasks in which I purchased it for. Being able ...

Sturdy and Tough
Bought this 2 years ago and it has been fantastic. Only flaw is it could be faster. It takes on all weather conditions and i have left it in my truck outside many moons and nights. Still working like a charm.

Not much power
I’ve been plumbing sence 1988 and always bought Dewalt from the beginning. I have rebuilt their old style sawall and desided to buy a new one. I bought this one because it’s the only one with adjust 4 way head to put blade on both ways. Well with new charged battery’s it would not cut through nails when cutout bottom of studs at bottom or top plate. It would start cutting and then stop. This is with a wood blade on nails, but I would do it all the time with their old style I had. It just doesn’t...
Solid saw, cuts as it should
This is a great tool. It's done everything I've asked it to. Prune trees, house demo, cut pipes - if it has a blade for it, this saw will cut with it.

Compact without sacrificing features
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I initially bought this recip saw to demo a large storage box on my property. The base of the box was roughly 4 inches of hard oak glued together. After trying several methods to break it apart, I thought this was going to be more of a headache than I’d bargained for. Then I got the Dewalt Compact Recip saw with a 5.0 battery some some carbide tipped demo blades. It was ripping through that thing in no time. I was amazed at how such a small too...

Great American made product
There were several other saws that said American made but upon checking the box they are Chinese or Mexican made. This American made saw is hands down the best Dewalt sawzall I have ever owned. It has functionality, versatility, and durability. Just buy the larger battery with for extended use or swap two smaller batteries for continued use. So long as it continues to be made in America by Americans I’ll pay more for it. Educated workers make better products and I felt great knowing I was suppor...

Unfortunate
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using DeWalt Tools for my entire 20 years as an electrician. Huge fan, own many many dewalt products. They are essential to my daily work. This tool, however, is the one I’ve been most unhappy with out of any DeWalt Tools. It’s extremely jerky and unbalanced, I could never get a straight cut on conduit or strut with it. It’s also too loud, louder than other compact saws on the market and the standard recip design. Battery life see...

Powerful, Well Made Tool, Made in America!
This is a great and powerful tool, especially for its size and weight. There is, however, one small issue that I feel could be easily resolved. The saw blade is mounted off center and no matter which direction I am mounting the blade I am unable to reckon exactly where the blade is relative to my cut line. In order to resolve this problem I have created my own sight-lines on the tool to help me line up the blade and allow me to make my cut accurately. This is an awesome tool in all other resp...
