DEWALT Power Detect XR POWER DETECT 2-Tool 20-Volt Max Brushless Power Tool Combo Kit with Soft Case (2-Batteries and charger Included) & FlexTorq 40-Piece 1/4-in Impact Driver Bit Set

Excellent set

Use the 12V’s exclusively in our fabrication dept. Being a Master Glazier by trade, they work extremely well for us in the fab dept. When dealing with Aluminum Extrusions, the 12V’s perform flawlessly. We use them because of the lower torque requirements needed, so screws don’t strip the aluminum. We use a lot of “Self tapping” and “Type F” screws, and the 12V’s are perfect. Using 20V’s for fabrication is overkill. You cannot hand a 20V to an Apprentice and expect them to not strip out a screw s...

Nice, small and really powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shortly after placing the order, I was thinking about the 2 tools included in this combo and asking myself, how good they can be? are they powerful enough? relaying on my experience I became critical and skeptical towards this combo (DCD701+DCF801), because I thought the 701 with such small size couldn't have that much power. I wanted to cancel my purchase but it was too late to do this, as the ordered combo was shipped already. When I got it, ...

impactful hammer

Tool guy here; unless you NEED the hammer function fairly regularly, the drill is probably way more than you need. By ang largely, am impact drill is also, at this size, overkill for 95% or more of people buying drills. Today, my local Lowes folks had this combo kit (most powerful and capable drill and impact in 20v) for $199. A more compact update on the drill, a snub- nosed impact that squeezes in tighter spots, the fastest battery charger, the big boy 8ah battery, and a 2ah; with bag. $199 is...

Milwaukee is better

Part of my DeWalt collection

I have used these continually for many years. The only thing replaced has been the batteries from years of charging and dropping the tool on the job. I wont get another brand. I have used others but prefer my 'Mello Yellow' dependable tools.

DeWalt Were They Thinking. Pad falls off in a week

I’ve had dewalt tools even the same gun for years and not once did a rubber pad fall off. New gun and didn’t even use it much and rubber pad falls off. Makes me wonder what the rest of it’s made like. Is it because it’s not made in USA anymore? Also plastic and looks cheaper.

Huge Battery, bigger bag than last set.

I needed another drill and driver combo set for another home. I definitely wanted the hammer drill feature. Haven't used that feature yet, but have on my other set. It's difference maker when drilling concrete. The one Battery in this set is HUGE. I will use it for my blower also. It's the largest 20volt battery I own now. I spent more on this set than any other Dewalt sets I bought.

Strong power, great features, in drill and driver

Top-end current impact driver and hammer drill from DeWalt, unlike similar cheaper bundles at other hardware stores (always check the model numbers!) Each tool offers three speeds, from high torque / lower speed to lower torque / higher speed. The onboard lights on each are very helpful, although I often find the trio of LEDs from the driver to better illuminate the working area than the one light down next to your pinkie on the handle of the drill. Used the hammer drill to drill into masonry ...

Powerful drill, small frame. Awesome impact driver

The impact driver is compact yet powerful. NOTE: The impact driver is NOT a Power Detect tool. It did well with everything I tried it on. I'm an impact driver addict and this will be my new go-to. The hammer drill does have the Power Detect feature. The Power Detect feature sounded pretty interesting but took a little bit of research to understand. Basically, the Power Detect tools can detect a connected high capacity battery and up the power output. It is important to understand that th...

High value units - compares well to competition

You've probably seen the VCG comparison videos on Youtube, or other similar head-to-head comparisons featuring the DeWalt 999 (FlexVolt), 998 (PowerDetect - this unit), or 996 (standard) drills and this impact driver. They compare favorably to high end competitors - win some and lose some. I compared them to the XTR offering from Kobalt and found these to be a slightly higher quality. The main items that set these apart were the hammer drill's superior and sturdier handle, the drill's 20 minute ...
