What Customers Are Saying
The heat gun has mixed reviews. Many users found it convenient and portable for small projects, appreciating its compact design, quick heating, and locking trigger. However, some were disappointed with its limited power and short battery life, noting it struggled for larger tasks. Some also reported quality issues, with the gun failing after few uses. Overall, the consensus is that this heat gun is best suited for light, quick jobs where the convenience of cordless outweighs the need for high heat output and runtime.

Excellent for electrical work
Small, uses DEWALT 20/60 batteries, quality feel and build, works well for heat shrink tubing, low-temp solder connectors, softening wire insulation and irrigation tubing. My primary application for this heat gun is electrical, mostly exterior lighting and audio wiring. Softening aged 12 gauge wiring, heat shrink tubing, and the low-temp solder connectors, all work great with this. Gun is small enough to fit in the electrical bag. Also have use this for basic adhesive cleanup - price tags/sti...

Totally Useless for any/all intended use(s)
I purchased this thinking this would be absolutely perfect for a somewhat compact and portable cordless heat gun to be used for wherever I might be working on anything that might require heat shrink tubing. This heat gun is not capable of properly installing 4:1 adhesive lined heat shrink tubing, and if there’s any wind blowing whatsoever, it won’t properly shrink 2:1 non-adhesive lined heat shrink tubing. If you’re wanting this heat gun to install heat shrink tubing in the field, don’t waste y...

Great Heat Gun For Small Projects
This is a great heat gun for small and quick projects. I purchased it to dry small areas of paint, wet drywall, shrink wrap, as well as for other miscellaneous projects around my home. It doesn't disappoint. It heats up fast, gets as hot as advertised and the safety and continuous trigger lock make it comfortable to use and prevent accidental triggering. The build is what I expect from DeWalt. The grip is comfortable, the gun itself doesn't get hot, it feels solid and isn't too heavy(though 4+ A...

Very convenient, till the battery is drained.
It is very convenient not to need the plug, but it's a big battery eater so you'll have batteries to plug in. If you're already a Dewalt 20v user with extra batteries it works. Otherwise there are less expensive options.

Good tool for what it's made for
This is a nice compact & portable heat gun for small jobs, especially where dragging a power cord would be inconvenient. I've used it to repair breaks in our underground dog fence, and my wife has used it for some vinyl stencil work in her crafting (I've also used it to release bubbles in epoxy resin pours). Compared to my corded heat gun, it does not produce NEAR the volume of air, and I haven't compared max temps between the two. I'd say they're probably close enough it doesn't matter - b...

Convenient for the most moderate uses
I was extremely excited to get away from my old plug-in heat gun by switching to this tool. Like a bonehead, I sold the old heat gun before fully testing this one and truly wish I didnt. This tool is useful for very occasional heat use on tasks requiring a moderate heat. It does not perform well for shrink tubing (takes about 30 seconds per small piece of shrink tube), completely fails to heat self soldering shrink connectors to the point that the solder melts and it takes quite a while to hea...

In a pinch tool
Okay now, it serves the purpose. You need a quick solderseal or shrink tube some wire, thaw a frozen lock, peel off a label or sticker,or work some bubbles out installing some graphics. It will do it and that's all it is meant for small quick tasks as it burns through batteries at high speed. Does its duty. You got a big job use a corded heatgun. Lock on feature is a plus. I can't speak on the longevity but its a dewalt so I'm not worried.
