What Customers Are Saying
The product has a lightweight, easy-to-use design with good power for small to medium-sized yards. Customers appreciate features like the adjustable handle, auto-feed string, and ability to use it as an edger. However, some have experienced issues with the auto-feed mechanism, string breaking or running out quickly, and the trimmer stopping working after a few uses. It may not be suitable for larger yards or heavy-duty use.

After reading many reviews where people complained about the auto-feed systems, I decided to buy one of the cheapest string trimmers so I would not feel like I wasted too much money on a product with poor reviews. I have only used this trimmer three times, but I have been very pleased so far. I edge and trim about 1500 feet of lawn, and I am not clearing large amounts of brush; therefore, I do not need a larger, gas-powered trimmer. I have not experienced any issues with the auto-feeder, and t...

RIP
I purchased this craftsman weedeater on July 5th 2025. While weedeating on August 3 2025 it died. I might add this was only the 4th time I had used it. I thought maybe it got hot so I waited 24 hours plugged in and tried again with no luck. Now I know why they are cheap. I would not recommend.
Worked great until it didn't
I like using electric weed wackers because they are lighter than gas powered and can run as long as I need without losing power like battery operated ones. This worked fine until it just stopped working after only 1 season of using. Like someone else mentioned in the reviews, I also had trim line starting to stick together in the spool and wouldn't feed as if it was overheating and melting together.

Just ok.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Trimmer was on sale with a 2 pack of line. The line feeder does not work well or at all sometimes. This makes it frustrating to operate when you have to pop off the cap and release the line manually to the desired length.

do not buy this garbage
They don't show this in the pics so I strongly advise everyone to study the caps which hold the lines in on any weed-eater you buy. This one comes with a cap that clips on no better than a plastic cap to a jar. It flies off and the string tangles up. Horrible manufacturing!
Hello David and thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on the CMEST900 CRAFTSMAN 12-in Straight Shaft Corded Electric String Trimmer ...

Good for 2 or 3 times
My first experience with this trimmer was great, but then the second spool won't feed, gets hot, and glues together. So now I have to feed the line to use it. I bought it in March, and now, in July, it won't work at all. It just stopped. It's the worst trimmer ever. I put a claim into Craftsman, and they emailed twice, and I haven't heard a word back from them either after five days. I bought it because it was a Craftsman, but I guess no more.

Craftsman ??? No longer a dependable product
I haven't even had this 1 month yet . My 1st time using it , it weeded pretty good , but the line kept getting stuck , so when I took off the cap I noticed in several areas of the twine looked like it was melted together . My yard & veggie garden border isn't all that big either . So when I went to use it the 2nd time after only weeding 1 side of my 4'x 30' veggie garden it started vibrating badly , AGAIN having to yake off the twine cap I noticed that where the spring goes over the twine reel...

Light
Was a little skeptical with my purchase as my last one was light weight. This turned out to be just as nice and easy to use.

very disappointed
I bought this trimmer one month ago. Craftsman, light weight and decent price. What could go wrong? Wound string as directed but no string would feed so I bought the expensive 3 pk Craftsman string ($25). Still would not feed. I spent more time removing the spool and threading it then trimming. Frustrating! I thought about using the old time hand clippers but arthritis stopped that idea. When it works it is great.

great buy
Before today, I had never even held a string trimmer in my hands. They always intimidated me for some reason. But my lawnmower gave up the ghost (after 27 seasons!) and I haven't decided what to replace it with. I have a townhome with a small back yard so I may just use a string trimmer from here on out. I read the reviews on here and aside from the price, which is fabulous, I was drawn to this because it is lightweight. I purchased it, came home, put it together and mowed/trimmed the back ...
