Ratings & Reviews for Zinsser BIN Interior Multi-purpose Shellac Wall and Ceiling Primer ( Spray can )
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the stain-blocking performance, highlighting its ability to seal water damage, pet odors, pine knots, and dark wood bleed-through in single coats where other primers fail. Many appreciate the fast-drying formula, lack of strong odor, and convenience of no pre-sanding required. However, reviewers consistently report defective spray mechanisms—nozzles clog, spray stops after few uses, or delivery becomes uneven—leading to wasted product and frustration. Several explicitly recommend the brush-on version instead. When the spray functions properly, customers note easy application and smooth finishes ideal for quick projects. Overall, most consider the performance exceptional despite significant spray reliability concerns.
Customer review summary generated by AI, including incentivized reviews. It is a little more expensive but I felt it was worth it. It has only been a few weeks since I have used it and so far the spray and two coats of paint have worked to cover up the stains.
