Very convient

If you are elderly and expect them to deliver it, unpack it and set it where you want, be ready for a surprise! The young man who delivered it brought it in (first thing he said, "do you want it in the garage?") Why would I want my new trash compactor in the garage!! Then he took it in the kitchen and set it beside my old one, box and all, took a picture and said where is the old one. I said aren't you going to unpack it? He said I didn't pay for that service! But he did eventually unpack ...

Waste of money

Purchased about 2 years ago. Had to wait about 60 days and the machine is garbage. Didn’t compress good, noisy, and now makes a horrible sound and won’t stop until it is turned off, won’t compress and now the buttons to turn on and off don’t work. We previously owned a Kenmore and it was amazing, after 20+ yrs, we had to buy a new one and kenmore doesn’t make them anymore. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Broken at 6 months

After 6 months of use, the ram wouldn't stop. It got 'fixed' and was told it was just jammed. 12 months later, it's 'jammed' again but now that it's not under warrantee so they will not pay for service to fix it again even though it's a recurrent problem. Message: They won't stand by their products or make good on selling me a lemon.

Worked for 15 days

Ordered this trash compactor to replace one that had stopped working after 10 years. Same brand, same color, hoping it would be new and improved. Ordered from Lowes. 3 week wait for it to arrive in store. Not Lowes fault. Picked it up, brought it home, unpacked it, set it in place, leveled it, plugged it in and started using it. The start button felt wonky from day one but figured it was stiff because it was new. Worked as it should from April 7th until April 22nd but the start button was...

EVERY HOUSE SHOULD HAVE ONE!!

This is our THIRD compactor of this make. It really saves on trips out to the garbage can. Prior to having one it is one trip a day. Now it is two trips a week. Leaves a lot of room in the collection can for waste from other areas. Each of the previous two lasted about ten years.

Good while it worked

We were excited when the compactor finally became available. It worked as described for just over a year. Just a month or two after the warranty expired it stopped working. The gears would not engage. There is an expectation when one spends this kind of money, the product will last years more.

Quiet and efficient

Delivered Damaged

I've tried 2 times now ordering this trash compactor. The first one didn't work the 2nd one is damaged. I've been waiting now well over 3 months for this trash compactor!!

Works fine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our previous Whirlpool trash compactor lasted over 22 years, so we did not hesitate to replace it with another. We've only had it for a couple of weeks and it seems to be working fine. Would give it 5 stars except the buttons to operate are a little hard to push, like there's a gap between the console front and the contact for the button. That may cause the plastic to crack over time.

Happy

Too noisy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently remodeled our kitchen and replaced all of our appliances. We had a Whirlpool compactor before. The new one we just installed is much noisier than the old one. I believe that the previous model had a plastic drive chain or drive gear and the troubleshooting notes say that the noise is due to the metal drive chain and gear. Perhaps the metal parts are more sturdy, but the noise made by this compactor is too loud.

Quieter than the last one

Ok but not as good as I hoped

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaces a 14 year old Whirlpool trash compactor. This new one does not seem to roll as smoothly as the appliance I replaced. Quality does not seem as good.
