What Customers Are Saying
The product has a mixed reception. Many users found the timers easy to set up and program, with a large display and simple controls suitable for elderly users. Several reviewers praised the timers as an inexpensive and reliable option, especially for holiday lighting and aquarium applications. However, a significant number of customers reported quality control issues, with some units arriving defective or failing to work properly. There were also complaints about the programming being difficult and the display going blank during use. While the majority of reviews seem positive, the high rate of defective units is a major concern.

Would Not RecommendI needed a small sized timer for a decorative lamp and this seemed perfect. However, it was almost impossible to program, and once I succeeded, the darned thing ran way too fast - almost double the speed it should. It is worthless! I promptly threw it in the trash. Don't waste you money on this!

Insync
Would RecommendGreat product! I had the mechanical type before and got tired of resetting them each time we lost power in the house. I then discovered this type which incorporates a back up battery. It's very easy to program also!

Not what I expected
Would Not RecommendFirst of all, it's not the same unit pictured on Lowe's website, even though it has the same item number. Second, it only repeats once every 24 hours… not made clear on the packaging… You would think a digital timer would be able to turn on and off many, many times per day. Third, the battery back up is internal… Which means it cannot be replaced when it's worn out. I had expected one AA Cel or 2 AAA. I guess I'll just stick with my old general electric automatic timer that I inherited from ...
Too difficult to program !!!
Would Not RecommendNearly impossible to program. After days if trying to program, finally worked but only for a few days. Then it went to full on mode. I would rate this item with zero stars.
Stopped working on first use
Would Not RecommendThe timer display switches from "on" to "off", but the power does not turn off. Taking it back.

Good timer for price
Would RecommendTimer does the job exactly what it supposed to do. The random feature allows the timer to go on or off, plus or minus 30 minutes so it is not exactly the same time everyday. I also like that it has a battery backup so that the settings and current time are always correct even after a power failure.

Iffy operation
Would Not RecommendProgrammed and plugged in, didn't operate the next morning. Reset and re-programmed, same thing. Reset one more time, programmed and it worked fine. Next morning it turns the light on and then flashed off, wouldn't turn on with the manual switch after that. When I bought this one there was one on the shelf that had obviously been returned. I made sure to get one that hadn't been opened. This one is going back, and I will try to find another solution to getting my light to come on in the mo...
Failed after 12 months
Would Not RecommendThis is a follow up to my review of 2/28/2016. Mine has failed in one year, after being used every day to turn on and off a lamp in the living room. I am looking for a different brand / model, hopefully I can find one that works for more than one year.
Single cycle daily ONLY
Would RecommendI recommend it if you only need a single on/off cycle every 24 hours..... If you want two cycles, once in the morning and once in the evening, this one will not do it and the outside markings do not let you know before you buy it. You have to read the instructions all the way through to the Helpful Hints section to find this limitation.
Timer mode works but random mode does not, which was the whole reason I purchased this timer. In Random mode the light simply never turns off; reprogrammed multiple times but it makes no difference.

Works great with 1 issue
Would RecommendI bought 2. Very easy to set up. From out of box to programmed and working - less than 5 min. I bought this for Christmas light timing. My Only problem: opening the battery compartment was very difficult. Needed a very thin knife to pry open the slot. Which caused gouging and deep scratches. However, -if always plugged in, batteries are not needed. Just keep instructions in a safe place if only using for Christmas.
Doesn't work
Would Not RecommendI set the 'event timer' to turn on at 7:10am and off at 5:00pm. I plugged in my crock put into the timer and plugged the timer in the wall around 6:45am. I turned my crock pot on low. It started heating up.... not at 7:10am but immediately.
Going Back Tomorrow!
Would Not RecommendI already have two timers from this manufacturer. They were easy to program and have worked great. I needed two more but when I got to the store, they now had this model. So I took them home and read the instructions, which were not all that clear. I'm pretty good at this, so I proceeded to spend the next half hour, trying to program this timer. You would get to a point and not be sure what the next step was and the next thing a different time would appear. After a half hour I said "I'm done ...

Not user friendly, stopped working after 3 months
Would Not RecommendSetting it up is more convoluted than need be. But that's the least of it. After about three months it stopped working and nothing I do will get it to work again. I don't know why outlets such as Lowe's continue to sell these poor quality products if they don't work consistently. It's annoying taking these things back to the store for exchange.
hard to program, can't turn light on and off
This was super hard to program. Once it was programmed it has done a great job for two months. BUT cannot turn the light on and off using the on/off switch. And cannot seem to change the program now that I want the light to come on earlier in the evening.
iffy
Would Not RecommendI have seven of these. I had to return and repurchase a few as several did not work. Most seem to work properly now except for one which can not be manually shut off. I purchased another today. When I got home I noticed it had been repackaged with tape. The timer had already been set. I tried it anyways and set the time and program. The unit decided to do its own thing -- turning on when not scheduled. Now another trip to LOWES. I need to remember to look and NOT PURCHASE any products which see...
50-50 chance
Would Not RecommendI bought two of these. One works like a champ. The other won't charge the internal battery, which is step 1 of the instructions. I took the errant one back and the return agent agreed that about half of them work and he was talking about the entire Utilitech line of products.
Dont Buy
Would Not RecommendThis product came with only instructions in spanish the english version was no where to be found. It was terrible to set up to much hassle for one light
Complicated, Frustrating Programming Process
Would Not RecommendThe timer's programming procedure was very cumbersome and frustrating. I returned it to the store. The prior similar model to this one was much easier to program. It is still operating flawlessly for five years.
