What Customers Are Saying
The Sta-Green Lawn Soil appears to be a mixed product, with some customers finding it useful for filling in bare spots, while others report finding large amounts of non-soil materials like wood chips and rocks. The high proportion of organic matter and lack of fine soil texture makes it difficult for grass seed to germinate and establish properly, suggesting this may not be an ideal product for growing new grass from seed.

Would Not RecommendI used both Scott's and Sta-Green lawn soil for new grass in two different areas. A little new grass has sprounted from Sta-Green soil while Scott's yield mch more new grass. I just wasted the seeds. Don't buy it!
Good
Would RecommendGood
I bought this along with the peat moss to cover over seeded lawn. Both products seemed about the same as for what I intended them for. The only thing I noticed with this product is if you get it too thick in places it cakes up when watered.
Lawn rehabilitation
Doing a little lawn rehabilitation following some work and dealing with brown spot disease. Aeration, loosing soil, tall fescue grass seed and these products have produced lush, new growth in less than two weeks.
More wood particles than expected
Good soil
Would RecommendIt was a good value.
Not what the picture shows
Ordered 40 bags as it shows true lawnsoil(black) with 3 month time delayed fertilizer. This crap is filled with filler, wood, etc. No way it can be used to gradually level exisitng yards or use for new grass. Very dissapointed in product and Lowe's for perpetuating this flasehood.
Excellent source for fill dirt in my lawn.
I used this product to fill in a few "sunken" or brown spots in my lawn. Then seeded with fescue. The spots are turning green.
Junk
Would Not RecommendI ordered 20 bags of this lawn soil for a lawn project and my wife picked them up. I would have returned them if we weren’t 40 miles away from the store. 15 of the 20 bags were soaked, so they were basically mud. 3 of the bags were about half full. There were several big rocks, some bigger than a baseball. There was also a bunch chunks of wood in almost every bag. I went ahead and used it since we were so far from the store. But I should have bought the Scott’s because this is a horrible...
Good dirt
Would RecommendBought to fill in some bare spots in my yard. Grass seed added and within days I could see it sprouting. Great mix.
Grass seed
Would RecommendNeeds a lot of water which we’re on water restriction right now. Isn’t growing real fast enough without a lot of water
