We originally purchased a well known brand of can that one can find at the big box stores. Our garbage closet is small and we like to have a can for trash and a can for recyclables. Let's just say you get what you pay for. They were hard to open, and really hard to fit the liner. I finally got my husband to agree to throw them away and get SimpleHuman. They stood by their warranty
For the price point, you'd like to see it made in America. It is beautiful though and functions well. It's held up for two years, though recently one of the hinges broke. They stood by their warranty, even though I didn't have a receipt, but just a serial number. Good company, and if they made these in the US, I'd be happy to pay even more.

Definitely too light
We had another simple human trash can for almost 10 years. This one seems so much lighter and flimsy. It moves around to much in the wood floor.
