What Customers Are Saying
The Seventh Generation Power+ Laundry Detergent is widely praised for its effectiveness in cleaning clothes, even tough stains, while being gentle on sensitive skin. Customers appreciate that it is free of harsh chemicals, dyes, and fragrances. The plant-based, eco-friendly formula is seen as a key selling point, though some note it may not be as effective on certain stubborn stains compared to other leading brands. The new Cedar and Sage scent option is generally well-received, though some customers wish the fragrance was a bit stronger.

Would Not RecommendCap doesn’t measure as instructions require. Nobody proofread before producing the product, which makes you wonder what else slipped through the cracks. Are the ingredients as they say? Who knows..

Giving up on Green Caps
Would Not RecommendI have been using Seventh Generation laundry detergent for well over a decade. Like many reviewers, the new cap design has finally broken me. Yes, there are lines if you look close enough at the right angle in the right light, but that doesn't solve the mess. I'm switching brands--hopefully 7thGen fixes it and wins us back.

Good product, poor packaging
Would Not RecommendI use Seventh Generation dishwasher powder and love it. I thought I would love the laundry liquid as well. Although the unscented detergent is fine, the cap is awful. The directions read to fill the cap to lone 3 or 5 depending on the load size. THERE IS NO LINE:!! Also, the detergent leaks all around the top of the bottle and is very messy no matter how careful you are when replacing it.

Literally the only thing going in my laundry
I’ve been using this detergent for nearly a year now… I love it. It lasts, it doesn’t leave any odor, the bottle is simple and minimalistic, and I love knowing the products in my home are clean and good quality. I also want to add, I have suffered from sensitive skin and breakouts all my life and have two toddlers with eczema and this detergent and helped so much.

More sustainable than tide
I wanted to stop using tide and laundry pods because of the chemicals and the microplastics that get into the water and this was a cleaner alternative for a similarly low price point. The environmental impact is what drew me to this product but I’ve continued to use it because the results are great and my clothes smell fresh!

Terrible Cap and Scent
Would Not RecommendI purchased this product because I thought it would be a better alternative than what I typically use. Like everyone said before..THE CAP IS TERRIBLE!!! IT also does not smell as good once washed (Lavender). I will not be purchasing again. I also have not found any answer on the internet aside from actually measuring out the detergent with a measuring spoon...um why would I do an extra step when I will just buy a different brand. Two stars because it is a more earth and skin friendly product.

One of our go to laundry detergents
This has been one of our go to laundry detergents since our daughter was a baby and we switched to free and clear. It is a little on the expensive side but if you catch it on sale it’s definitely worth it. We bounce back and forth depending on our budget for the month. I like that this doesn’t have much of a smell.

Product packaging needs work
First time buying this and though the detergent seems ok, there are no lines on the cap to measure the liquid out, even though the directions say to use the cap lines. They don't exist. Also the cap spills down the bottle every time I pour or put the cap back on, so its a mess after using it just three times.

Great detergent, poor packaging
Would Not RecommendThe detergent is great and works well. No scent is a big plus. BUT the bottle design is extremely poor (does nobody at Seventh Generation use their own products?) and I will likely switch brands after we used it up. The issue is that the cap is impossible to put on without detergent being pushed out the sides and running down the bottle.

Clean clothes
Would RecommendFinally a laundry detergent that actually cleans all my families clothes. I have been using this detergent for over 5 years. I have never had issues with caps not working etc. it’s getting difficult to find now.

Oversized Nightmare
I went to a large supermarket that was close. This was all it had.I had to run soiled clothes twice and it still did not clean them well. The cap is a horror story, and the contained is awkward to use. I will never buy this again

Good Product, Poor Cap
Would Not RecommendPoorly Designed Green Cap I just purchased this in September 2023, and copied and pasted this comment from 9 months ago because it is a completely accurate statement of my experience and problem with this product (mainly the packaging). Where are we supposed to find Line 3 and Line 5? I have used this detergent for quite some time and been happy with it. However, the new green cap is absolutely terrible...bad enough for me to switch to a different product. The instructions say to fill to "Lin...

Hate the bottle design
Why did they change the cap to the bottle??? I love this detergent but am considering changing brands. My laundry cupboard is a mess with the detergent that runs down the bottle. The previous bottle design didn’t do this. Ugh!

Good detergent, bad cap!!!
Would Not RecommendI have used Seventh Generation laundry detergent for years now. The new cap design is terrible. Liquid detergent gets everywhere, even when I put the top on and then wipe the outside of the cap (never had to do this before), I still had detergent drip on my feet as I carried the bottle. Had to wipe/wash my foot that was in sandles, and make sure my sandal didn't have detergent on it. I no longer keep this detergent in the closet because of the mess, I keep it in a hard surfaced floor area. ...

Horrendous cap makes a good product unusable
I've been using this detergent for years, and I've always liked it. But the cap on the new packaging is so poorly designed that you can't really use it now. So I'm currently looking for alternatives for when my current container runs out. There are many different problems with the cap, the main one being that it drips like crazy. The no-drip cap has been standard in the industry for many decades. The previous packaging of this had a no-drip cap. It's beyond me why you thought it was a good idea...

New Cap Terrible / New Formula?
The new cap is absolutely terrible. Thankfully, I saved the old bottle and poured the contents of the new bottle into the old. I'm reading in other reviews that there was a change in formula. I've had an unexplained rash for over 4 months now. Does 7th generation Free and Clear have a new formula?

The good and bad.
Would Not RecommendLove this detergent and have been using it for several years. I DO NOT love the new green lid however. Detergent spills over and makes a horrible mess. I'm over it and am looking for other options now.

Unavoidable dripping
What a mess! Please go back to the prior drip-free design of the cap. Although I've used this excellent detergent for decades, I'll be switching to another brand until you do.

The cap will make a mess of your laundry room.
Would Not RecommendWhere is line 4?? And “just below line 5”? There are no lines on it, and I got my sink full of foam trying to clean the drippings from the cap, no matter how careful I pour.
