Easy to Apply-Polyurethane Topcoat Still Tacky

I bought this stain in Golden Oak for a project I am working on. The stain is more like a gel stain, applies very easily, but mutes the grain since it is not transparent. It does not penetrate into the wood grain. I let the stain dry for four hours as recommended and then applied a coat of Minwax Wipe on Polyurethane to the wood. After drying overnight, the polyurethane is still soft. Never had this problem before with Minwax's traditional stains. Not sure I will buy this stain again......

Good color

Great Product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, the packaging. I love that metal clips are included to keep the lid securely on. Once opened, the smell was not too strong. I mixed the product and applied to the framing in the photo and it applied so smoothly. I let it dry overnight with one coat and that was the result. Coverage & color looks great. I may apply a second coat to see how dark & rich it gets. Overall, I am happy with this product & look forward to staining more things in...

More like paint

Woodworkers beware This product is more like paint than stain. VERY LOW penetration even on soft wood. it will not soak into the heartwood on pine. We all know if we get oil based stain on our hands it soaks intot he skin and stays there for days. This wipes off with a rag. it will work for the project im using it on but would never buy again.

Too white but has an uniform finish shine

A bit too white on my white oak cabinets which have lighter pinkish white showing the wood grain nicely. However, this white oak stain is too heavy on the white color like paint that makes the wood grain not showing nicely as before. In addition, like any oil base stains, the smell is very strong and takes a couple of days to dissipate. One good thing is the finish has an uniform shine after rubbing on the stain with a cloth rather than brushing.

Use paint as a white wash this doesn’t work.

Perfect Wood Finish

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The application of the Miniwax Wood Finish Color Series in Amber is a great product. It is easy to apply and work with. It goes on so smoothly and dries pretty quickly. You get good coverage for the size of the container. The smell is bearable and not off-putting like other products.

Durable stain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This indoor stain is one of a kind. Easy to apply, quick to dry, fantastic color. With a household of kids, this stain has withstood countless scratches, and scrapes. Would recommend to all DIY Dads out there.

Not semi yransparent

It was not semi transparent. It covered like paint

Love the color

Minwax bring back the old stains

This is not as Good as the old style stain and it is not easier to us at all
