Would RecommendI use this to pre-condition wood that I am going to carve on my CNC machine. When I paint the letters I can easily sand off the part I don't want

Minwax water based sanding sealer
Would RecommendThis is easy to apply with brush or foam roller. It does take longer to cure than oil based sanding sealers. Since it is water based, it will raise the grain. Not a problem for my initial use to seal some mahogany while I am turning a bowl. If this being applied prior to staining, you will need to lightly sand the raised grain before staining or applying a top finish product. I left the coat to cure overnight. It did reduce the tearout from the turning tools. I note the container is pl...
Don’t recommend
Very poor product - impossible to apply without getting foamy and leaving discoloration on wood surface. Sanded it all off - fortunately only applied it to a small part of my project
Worthless - Can't be used over stain
Would Not RecommendUse with any Minwax oil or water based poly, it says...BUT read the fine print and it say NOT to be used over stain. I was reluctant to buy a water based sanding sealer, and I will be returning it...Had to seal my stained hardwood floors with poly which will create more work for me, and a lesser quality job in the end. Thanks for nothing Minwax. At least offer an oil based product for the pros!!

Min wax sanding sealer
Those who know what it’s for will understand why it’s a must have! I read reviews about foaming up and not as good as last formula. I have not any of these issues and find it wonderful to work with!

it turns yellow as dries out
Would Not Recommendit comes out of can clear but turns yellow (and I mean school bus yellow) as dries out. Maybe good for small surface but God forsake use it on the floor; impossible to get uniform color in all but very small room.

it turns yellow when it dries up!
Would Not RecommendIt looks colorless when you apply it but it turns yellow when it dries. Any uneven coating will have more color, and unfortunately by the time it turns yellow it's too late to fix. This besides ruining natural wood color. And good luck sanding it: "easy to sand" means it will come right off if you rub it with finger.

Works but does not replace oil-based sealers
Would Not RecommendI normally use an oil-based sealer that soaks into and hardens the wood surface, and can be used a satin surface finish. I can't find it locally any more so I tried this product. Although it does seem to seal the wood, it is very watery and does not provide the sealing or finish I needed. I used it on fir shelving and it does work as a pre-finish sealer, and because it is water-based clean up was easy. However, don't expect good results when used as a surface hardener or finish coat when com...

great stuff!
Would RecommendIf you want to stain a porous wood like pine, put this stuff on first, let dry, lightly sand everything, wipe off and then add stain. The wood won't soak up the stain and be blotchy. It will all be even .

It is a product well suited
Would RecommendAlthough the instructions say that if you stained the piece that the sealer is not needed, but I did it anyway. This product gives my piece a richer, deeper finish when topcoated with Minwax Gloss polyurethane varnish.
Sanding sealer works
Would RecommendSaves time and materials plus it's water based so clean up is a breeze.
