What Customers Are Saying
The Purple Fountain Grass is generally an attractive and low-maintenance ornamental grass. Many customers praised its appearance, describing it as beautiful and providing good color contrast in their gardens. However, there were mixed reviews regarding its hardiness, with some customers reporting that the grass did not survive cold winters, especially in northern climates. The suitability of the grass may depend on the local climate and growing conditions, with better success in warmer regions.

Would Not RecommendSeeing lots of browning on tips. Possibly location. But, no time for needy plants.

not for this climate
Would Not RecommendI planted 6 of these in my flower beds. They grew well over the summer and died off in the winter. They did not come back to life. I dont recommend them for this erea. Too cold in the winter.
Check Your Zone
This product will not survive the winter in Ohio. It's rated for zones 9-11. I bought 2 and both died. It's a beautiful ornamental grass and looked gorgeous last Summer but unfortunately it's not hardy enough for an Ohio zone.
Beautiful but die in winter
Would Not RecommendLove these, they grow big quickly and are beautiful, but I have replaced them 3 years in a row b/c they do not survive the winter in NWPA. Not sure why Lowes sells them here.
Sold in Zone 5 as a Perennial...Actually an Annual
Would Not RecommendWe bought 15 plants and did the work to get them all in the ground. They did well as we entered winter but did not appear to survive the winter. As I researched to find out when they would green...they will not. They are perennial in Zone 9-11 and Annual in the remaining zones...rated 30-20 degrees. Would not have purchased had we known they were considered annuals in Colorado...we where purchased them. We will now do the work to take them out of the ground and back to Lowes.
Pennisetum
Would RecommendI bought 2 of these to add interest to a long planter with a mum and lilies. The feather like plumes draw your attention. The other one I potted and placed inside a topless chimera. It looks nice with the stems and feather like plumes growing out of the top.
