I have been using mine for 3 years now and it has worked flawlessly, It is very efficient with the battery life and just as if not more effective than the traditional gas powered tool

First time ever dissatisfied with an online Lowe’s

Product arrived poorly packaged, box open and when I took my purchase out of the shipping box it was obvious Lowe’s sent me an open boxed item. It was supposed to be an online exclusive so not even sure how that’s possible for an open boxed item. The manual is missing but I haven’t charged the battery to see if the product works because it’s a Christmas present. Hate leaving bad reviews cause I prefer Lowe’s for my shopping.

Do not buy, you won't be able to get parts.

I have had this thing a few years now and I loved it up to this point. The bump head wore out. Thinking oh this was produced only 4 years ago, and they still sell it, surely there are replacement bump heads. No, absolutely not, nothing. The replacement part has been listed as unavailable forever. I called the Kobalt number as other reviews mention, but yet they don't have the part anymore either. They tried to direct me to a bump head that wouldn't even remotely work.

Trimmer is a BEAST, Blower has nice features...BUT

Ok, first off let me say that ALL of my Tools are KOBALT brand. I have dozens of batteries, 8 chargers and more 24V tools (and hand tools) than i could count in a day. I obviously love the brand. spool replacement

it's difficult to find dual line replacement spool. sales people don't know the correct spool for it.

Fantastic Weed Eater

I have had this weed eater for about a year now, and I finally had to add new line to it. I googled how to do that, and could not believe how easy it was. You cut off 13 feet of line, feed it through and wind it up.... VERY NICE and Easy!!! I also have the edger and one 40V battery and can do my whole yard and sidewalks and still have plenty of battery left. These 2 items put the finishing touches on making my yard Look Great!

hard to get charger replacement under warranty

The trimmer works well. However beware that you may have to jump through hoops to get a charger replacement under warranty. Took me 3 weeks of calling many times and lots of e-mails to finally get the correct replacement. A shame since the trimmer itself works well so far, have used it for 1 year now. good for small or light trimming

I had issues with some of the larger weeds. The line or the speed wasn't sufficient to take down the tough stuff.

Parts wear out- Lowes and Kobalt won't have them.

Originally, I wrote a review on how difficult loading the string is and getting it to release reliably. New review- bigger problems one year later. It turns out Lowe's doesn't sell a replacement bump head, which wear out within a few months. Kobalt themselves will only sell the entire stringhead assembly- at close to $50 delivered and it's a substitute part, not original. So, why would anyone buy Kobalt power equipment? And, here's the kicker- the stated warranty only excludes the spindle ...

You will need to buy at least another battery.

I choose to upgrade from a craftsman 20 weed wicker to this 40 volt model so it would last longer but doesn’t make that much of a difference.

All OK so far!

I have only used the trimmer twice so far. The coming months/years will show whether the product is as advertised. The Kobalt trimmer was to assemble. The battery was about 90% charged out of the box! So far I have trimmed about 300 linear feet of grass and 600 sq. ft. of weedy ground. The bump head seems to be working well at this point. Lasted less than 2-months

On my third time using this item, it began to make a grinding noise. Shortly after, it stopped working. Back to Lowes for a refund!

Decent trimmer, but has some fatal flaws

This trimmer got the job done for me for about five years. I have a small lawn, but there's a lot of trimming along my walkway, my detached garages and a curb that runs the length of my border along my neighbor's driveway. The battery lasted the entire summer for the first year. Fatal flaws are: the battery died this year. It's probably my fault for leaving it in my non-ventilated garage where it gets very hot.
