Socket adapter fail

The socket adapter has no retention into the ratchet. A terrible oversight in design. Additionally, the spring and ball on the other end popped out first time use. Poorly crafted. Yet, you need the adapter to use that end of the ratchet! Help us all! Unfortunately, the tool is only as strong as it's weakest link! Therefore I can only give it a 1 Star.

small set that minimally works

I have this set. The drives are tiny and fall out of the ratchet. I wouldn't advise this. Spend a little more and get a decent set

Warranty

My set said it had "lifetime Hassel free warranty" after 3 calls to kobalt/Lowes customer service and 2 trips to Lowes, they gave me 11$ to use in store. All the pieces were there but the wratchet breaks and it was a huge pain. Will never buy again.

Small but Effective

I needed a tool to do work in tight spaces. This set filled the bill perfectly.

Wont hold the bits.

I bought this to replace a set that was of a different manufacturer. The wrench would skip a tooth intermittently and did not have aby means to hold the bit, no magnet or anything they would just fall out as easily as you put them in. On a smaller note the layout of the bits is so compact you almost need tweezers to get them out, im a kobalt fan and all my hand tools reflect it, but this one missed the mark I have no idea how this made it past testing. I ended up returning it after one day of us...

I'm Returning it

So I'm not really a tool user but just as a basic rule I think the bits shouldn't just fall out? Like is that asking too much? Apparently if you ask Kobalt the answer is yes but I'm gonna return the set to Lowes and try the craftsman set it certainly can't be worse

Multiple failure points

Neither end of the ratchet retains bits, they fall right out. The container they come in though has a vice tight grip on the bits, which is kinda backwards. Certain measurements are skipped for some reason. If it weren’t for the tamper proof bits I need I would return this.

Meh. Get what you pay for

This socket set is a nice size to carry around and it is well made. The few problems I have is getting the different sockets out of the case and the sockets have don't stay on the wrench very well. With that said, you get what you pay for and for the price it does the job.

Ridiculous flaw

I really wanted to like this kit until I opened it and put a socket on it and it falls out, I think you need to drug test whoever designed it this way because it makes absolutely zero sense

Total garbage ratchet that can create more of an issue than it can solve. Numerous reviews of the bit falling off. Happened to me three times and I almost lost it int a customer’s machine. I put the Kobalt bit into a Hyper Tough brand T handle ratchet and it stayed secure. This borrowed kit also came with an extension which is why I borrowed it in the first place. Seems there can be something wrong with the ratchet itself holding the bits.

Garbage

The socket adapter is not 1/4" hex, it's a non-standard 5/16" hex to 1/4" square. The socket adapter lost all magnetic hold in the ratchet after 1 use. It falls right out. Useless junk.

old style of this rachet set was better

I have both the old style ratchet set and new one. The piece that snaps into the new rachet falls out. I'm missing 2 sockets and the piece that holds socket to rachet or I would just keep using old one. wonder if Kobalt will replace missing pieces.

socket falls out!

I have an older kit (same but old style) and it holds sockets, etc in. The new one doesn't. I lost my 5/18th socket last night. it's in my mower somewhere! missing parts to old one or would use it all the time! Not happy with "revised" kit!!

Adapter falls out easily

Good product. Small compact. Down side is the adapter for sockets falls out too easily.

Socket adapter falls out easily

My socket adapter bit falls out very easily and it finally got lost. I went to Lowes to request lifetime warranty replacement of socket adapter. Lowes did not have the adapter and would not break open a kit. I called 1-888-3KOBALT and they too would not provide just the socket adapter. KOBALT told me to call the manufacturer, JS Products. What a runaround for a lifetime warranty $2 part.

No Retention

it would be a serviceable tool, if the bits actually stayed in either end of the ratchet.
