Needs a hex shank, not round
Would Not RecommendI put a couple of holes in plywood and it was iffy. I had to go very slowly in my drill press. I cranked down so hard on the chuck to tighten it, I was almost unable to undo it. When I was boring/drilling the bit would spin in the chuck if I applied more than a slight amount of pressure. Not sure how it would do in pine, but I'd be afraid to try hardwood. Life would be better if the shank was hex and not round.

Would RecommendI needed this bit to drill a 1 1/4 inch flat bottom hole. This bit filled the bill and did a great job.

Hard to Center
Would Not RecommendEven with the starter tip this drillbit was difficult to keep still and isolated quite a bit before grabbing hold and boring out the hole that I needed.
