Ratings & Reviews for Hunter Newsome 42-in Fresh White Flush Mount Ceiling Fan With Light Chain

Terrific Little Fan

We previously bought a Newsome Low Profile and loved it so much, we purchased another one! Don’t spend the money on the other brands of fans from the major appliance stores. You know the ones. They rattle. Breakdown after a few years. Spend a little extra and get a top notch fan that is aesthetically pleasing, is smooth running, and will last for years. You won’t regret it.

Solid and beautiful fan!

I love the fan. It moves a lot of air, is stable, and is silent. However, there are some holes at the top of the motor housing and some ceiling debris fell in during installation. There does not appear to be an easy way to get it out. I've tried holding the fan motor upside down and shaking it, but it's hard to do with the wiring attached. I got most of it out, but not all. I can hear the leftover debris bouncing around when the fan is spinning. I hope future iterations put some mesh over th...

Great fan, need to buy dimmable bulbs

This is a beautiful fan, and our second Hunter fan. The matte black is classy and the fan operates very quietly. It's a very slim profile that's great for a small room. Be aware that the included bulbs are NOT dimmable in spite of what the Lowe's website currently says (I contacted Hunter directly after reading a similar review from about a year ago). However, an inexpensive purchase of dimmable LED bulbs takes care of that if you're interested. This should meet all your expectations.

Motor broke down after 3 years

I bought this fan in June 2021 and after 3 years, the fan motor started buzzing loudly. At first it disappeared when I turned down the speed down, but inevitably even on the lower speeds the sound comes back. I know fan motors wear down over time, but 3 years is too short to be woken up in the middle of the night by buzzing. It is a very powerful fan and cools the room nicely, but the fan breaking down is disappointing.

Beautiful fan

Was easy to install myself and has a great breeze!

Inaccurate Description, LED Bulbs Do Not Dim!

I installed this fan for my parents, piece a cake. Done a ton of fan and pretty simple. They had a two pole light switch for a fan and incandescent lights. The dimming light bulbs (per the Lowes website, see pic) we not working with the switch. No big deal, I know dimmable LED's require new light switches. Purchase a two pole dimmable LED light switch and still no difference, very dim. Called Legrand and worked with their customer service. Turns out the supplied bulbs are not dimmable! A third t...

Beautiful Ceiling Fan

The Hunter Newsome 42" Brushed Nickel Flush Mount ceiling fan with light is exactly what I was looking for. It was easy to install and runs very quiet. This fan lights my 10x11 bedrooms very nice and bright. Love it! The flush mount is perfect for my 8 feet ceiling. This fan definitely made my remodeled bedrooms look modern. The reviews were what made up my mind to buy this fan. I'm so glad I did.
