Would RecommendBuilder forgot to install a fan box. I compared different brands and this one is very sturdy and very very easy to install. This is the middle size box it it has lots of room to tuck away the wires. It comes with all the screws you need to immediately install a ceiling fan mounting bracket. The box is just slightly shorter than the drywall which is good as the fan mount can bite into the drywall while tightening to the box. Just right.

Would RecommendI had a ceiling light box in my garage and wanted to put in a fan but needed a fan-rated box. I did not want to rip up the sheetrock on the ceiling. This was absolutely perfect to accomplish that task. The sides stretch out and secure so well it could hold my weight. It was the perfect solution.

Would RecommendUsed this to replace an old plastic box that broke off after 25 years of having a ceiling fan hanging from it (probably shouldn't have but I don't remember installing it). Only quibble about the directions is they don't really show a good way to line it up with the drywall, but otherwise the install went just like the YouTube video. and I expect this to last a very long time.
