What Customers Are Saying
Most customers praise this product as an effective mulch and soil amendment, noting it retains moisture, suppresses weeds, and improves plant growth at an affordable price. However, many express disappointment that it resembles shredded wood chips rather than true compost, with a dark, earthy texture. Despite this mislabeling concern, reviewers consistently highlight its value and practical utility in flower beds, raised gardens, and as a soil conditioner. Several users report using it successfully for years, accepting its composition as a worthwhile trade-off for cost-effectiveness. Overall, most customers recommend it when expectations align with its actual performance as mulch rather than finished compost.

This is how material delivery should work
Would RecommendI ordered seven bags of smelly compost at 5am. It was on my lawn stacked neatly exactly where it needed to go before 9am. I ordered other big box orange store and it was a nightmare. I had to unload it myself from them. Way to go Lowe’s.
This is mulch not compost
Would Not RecommendThis is wood mulch disguised as compost. $6 for a bag of wood mulch. Will not be fooled twice.
New and improved quality
Would RecommendThis product is really good quality, and the older version used to have a warning about keeping your pets away from it because of the microbes and bacteria that could be harmful to your pets, but that’s not the case anymore . I like how fine the wood is ground up I add this and peat moss to create a great soil mix especially since I have lots of heavy clay and limestone, which I’ve removed that and added concrete sand to create better drainage for my garden.
Fantastic organic base for strawberry planters!
Would RecommendI bought a few bags of this Hapi-Gro 2 Cu Ft Organic mix to fill my everbearing strawberry planters this season, and I am incredibly impressed. The texture is excellent for container gardening—it provides the perfect balance of moisture retention and drainage.
