This is my third GE Profile nugget ice maker over 6 years. Nothing really lasts forever but my first lasted almost 4 years and my second lasted 2 years. Well worth the purchase price in my opinion but for the price I’d think it’d last a bit longer or it would come with a longer manufacture warranty. Cleaning and Descaling for RO Water

We have had the Opal Model XPIO13SW4SS for about 4 months and love the ice it makes, but we use RO water only for filling the tank and have been cleaning it when the CLEAN and DESCALE Lights come on, cleaning weekly and descaling bi-weekly. It seems to be very high maintenance for a residential use product. I see that there are other products on the market that are less expensive and have an automatic cleaning cycle so we may want to return this one.

Making loud noises!

ice maker sounds like its jamming inside! bought it 3 weeks ago and already gave out! waist of $500!

Strange sound

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my opal ice machine, but it keeps making a screeching noise. I have spoken to the help desk twice. The first call wasn’t helpful. Second call was more helpful, but it still occasionally makes that sound. It is less than 4 months old.I wouldn’t expect to have this issue with a brand new machine.

Pellet ice machine

We’ve had the machine for a few weeks and we love it.I am a retired Union Pipefitter so I hooked it up directly to a filtered water supply so we thoroughly enjoy it every day!

Great but makes horrible noise

Brand new machine and it makes a horrible grinding/squealing noise. It started the sameday we opened the box.

Do not buy this. Quit working after a few months.

A wonderful machine but doesn’t last very long!

I have owned a GE Opal ice maker for two years and have loved everything about it. After running the last cleaning cycle this past June (as per directions with the descaling solution) the machine would no longer make ice. I then purchased a new GE Opal Ultra ice maker. The machine performed beautifully for two months and after running a cleaning cycle, the machine no longer makes ice. I have contacted the company and am in the process filing a warranty claim. Second purchase first only lasted 3 years not repairable. New purchased less than a month and failed had to return for replacement. We will see. Alot of money not great lifespan.

Love having ice ready all the time

I love it… I just can’t figure out how to clear the “sanitize light” no matter how much I try to reset, unplug… tried everything

Great when it works

We love the ice when it works. You need to use distilled water for it to last longer than 2 years. We used filtered water and did regular cleaning and descaling the calcium deposits. Ultimately the float sensor broke randomly. The machine just keeps on saying add water. Did everything I could to troubleshoot it. Seems like a major issue as a lot of people have the same problem.

Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker

This is the second ice maker that we have owned and this Opal 2.0 Nugget Ice maker is far better than all of my original expectations! It makes ice very fast, makes the perfect size nuggets that I like to put in my bottle drinks, and it is very well made. It also is a great looking appliance that doesn’t look odd sitting on the counter. Highly recommend!!

Frustrated with FIVE DAY delayed delivery

I’m hopeful I’ll love the icemaker, it this delivery was ridiculous!! When I ordered the ice maker on July 29; it was scheduled to be delivered Friday. Then, delivery was rescheduled for 2:30 Saturday and postponed until 6:30 Saturday. Still no ice maker was delivered. The delivery was re-rescheduled for Monday by 2:30 and delayed until 6:30.
