Good grinder

It's a good bench grinder, but the wheels that came on it aren't worth keeping. Get the grinder and then replace the wheels.

Solid Tool

Right size grinder for the average user. Great for mower blades, axes, and other odd jobs. Variable speed gives it good flexibility.

Early Review--So far so good...

In the price range, the best thing about this grinder is its variable speed and reasonable power. Variable speed is important to me because I will almost always run low speed for sharpening--keeps heat buildup manageable and won't alter the heat treatment of the steel. High speed grinders tend to hear the steel and turn it bluish in color--now your edge is spring-tempered and therefore soft. Runs nice and smooth. Put a fine brass wheel on it to clean up some tools Got some vibration when i turned the RPM's up Had to keep on slower speed Alittle light on power but all in all works fine Instructions for adding on tool rests and eye shields are not wriiten to be understood to well But after a couple of minutes, they went on

Delta 6" Bench Grinder and the instructions

Good Morning--I recently purchased this bench grinder and I have to say this--I have put many items together but these instructions would of been nice had they taken a little more time with pictures to show where the parts go. The picture is basically a over view and although the written instructions seem clear--it was very difficult to set the parts properly--after taking this apart and trial and error, I got it put together , I will say the grinder works fantastic and so far I'm happy with it ...

Only one downside.....

The only downside to this product were the instructions to put it together. May be okay for those of you who can read machine language or work in a shop know this stuff... the pictures that came with the instructions were also ridiculous and didn't make any sense. It took me over an hour to figure out what the heck they were saying... it was crazy, but it's done and now we're happy.

COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH IT

I have used a number of bench grinders throughout my life, but this is my first personal purchase for home use. Like many, I had my reservations about this grinder after reading the very mixed reviews. But, being as this was the only model I could immediately get my hands on at my local Lowe's in an area with very few options, figured I'd give it a shot and, if I didn't like it, return it and go back to the Amazon search. Great purchase

There are two drawbacks to this unit. 1. goose neck is not stabilized enough and he variable speed is not low enough for every use.

Excellent for the above average homeowner.

Immediately after purchasing this grinder used it to resharpen 3 extremely damaged lawn mower blades I had. Did it's job quite well and I highly recommend it for the ambitious do it yourself-er (DIY) . It's well balance and decently made. Plan on using it for drill bits and broken screwdrivers and anything else I can find worth grinding! Well worth the cost.

Useful grinder

This grinder has almost no vibration, very somooth running. The speed control is handy for tool sharpening and heavy grinding.

IN BETWEEN

I find for my use, as a DIY person, this grinder is in between the high end for a DIY person and the low end. If you do lots of metal work, then this may not be good for your needs. But for around the house, or for use in the average home shop, it is OK. It does have slight vibration but not bad. The light is better than what is found on cheaper grinders. The tool rest could be larger and heavier made but again, good enough for the home. The value is great! Looking at what the cost is on line at...

Great product

The variable speed is a good feature. Also like having the sturdy base. It doesn't really need to be mounted, making it more portable.

So far it a nice grinder and works well as expected. Very pleased so far

Had read many reviews about grinders, but being just a diy shop guy doing things around the house didn't want to spend a fortune for a big name grinder. Decided to go with this Delta grinder. Setup was easy, the grinder is very quiet, and I really like the variable speed. Have sharpened everything in the shop and have had no problems. Even bought bolts to fasten the grinder to workbench, but it is heavy enough that I decided not to....that way I can move it if necessary. Very satisfied so far......

Excellent for a budget grinder

I did what so many advised, to have them test it at the store to ensure the axel & wheels are true & free of wobble/vibration. This unit I got was perfect, very quiet. The assembly was pretty easy ( I did it with one hand (my other hand is paralyzed). The only little issue I saw was that the instructions on how to attach the tool rest was incomplete, the diagram shows it attaching directly to the wheel guard, but actually there's another piece that must connect the two. I'm a happy camper, now :...

Poor assembly instructions

The pictures of the parts did not all look like some of the actual parts. Some pictures of parts weren't there. Assembly instructions were poor. One of the tool rests wouldn't stay on, come to find it was either stripped out of the box, or the hole for the screw to attach in was too big. I tried the product out, and it did work pretty well, but this is my 1st time using a grinder and I have nothing to compare it too. I will exchange it, considering the faulty attachment for the tool rest.
