We bought this to fix some inperfections in the plaster walls before painting and ended up using it to cover a hole in the wall from an old light fixture too. It goes on purple/pinkish and dries white. Just becare full if you need to pain right away. The top turns white before the under side on the wall for deeper holes or cracks like where the door handle hit the wall. So if you are painting after just give it a few more minutes after the top turnes white to pain...
