Film on cooktop knobs peeling

With the cooktop knobs being plastic, the film coating peeled off very quickly and has left me very disappointed with an expensive appliance. Called and asked for replacement and was told I had to buy them. Not impressed at all and I would not recommend this appliance.

Excellent product, minor issues with little things

We have had this range for 2 years and absolutely love it! More pluses than minuses for sure, but have had some of the same issues as others: the knobs suffered cosmetic damage immediately. I was very surprised that they are plastic, not stainless--it never occurred to me that that would be the case for a quality product. We also found that the stainless scratches easily at the back of the grates--they must be lifted off completely to clean, not tilted up. We have also lost a few of the lit...

Low quality materials for a luxury cooktop

I would not buy this cooktop again. I love it but the materials are awful. Low quality. The copper knobs are discoloring, color coming off, stainless steel top scratches way to easily and the decals run off with just using soap and water. It’s priced as a luxury cooktop but materials say otherwise. The burners are great. Also, single, childless here - so it’s not like the cooktop gets used to cook family dinners. Typically use 1-2 burners -2x a week - so expected better quality.

Disappointing stainless steel quality

This is the worst cooktop for scratching even when using a clean microfiber cloth it scratches. So disappointing. I knew when I was looking at cooktops that knobs on the top were going to be difficult to keep clean and I was right. Would not buy another one. Stainless steel is so poor quality!!

Poor Quality

I am very disappointed in the cooktop. This was a very expensive cooktop, from what I thought was a top manufacturer. However, the burners do not work correctly. The flame comes out very uneven and extremely high on one side. After using the burner twice, the cap looks like it has been used for years due to the uneven flams. I called in to notify GE of this issue and they sent a tech out. He spent 4-5 minutes at my house, was a bit rude, and said he would order a new burner for the one burner. H...

Potential for scratches.

I love everything about my new cooktop. I just really wish there was less potential for scratching the stainless steel. I realize that there are rubberized pads on the stainless steel for the grates, however if one doesn’t place the grate exactly on them, you can definitely scratch the surface. Just be really careful!

Great for cooking

I love the burners; I love the way ignition works; The reason I gave 4 stars is because of material of controls the coating is already wearing off exposing plastic beneath.

Great stove, easy to control the heat.

I absolutely love this café stovetop. The griddle is wonderful. We did the propane conversión, it was easy. If I had one thing to complain about it would be that the stainless steel is hard to clean. But after a few times I have it down.

Poor knob design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Knobs are setup too high so any thing hot placed on the stove top near the knobs (eg, baking sheet from the oven) melts the knobs. The burners are effective all though it would be nice to adjust the burner down lower as it is sometimes too hot.

Knobs are cheap

I was very excited to see the GE Cafe cooktop in my our home that we purchased in 2018 because I have used GE appliances for years. However, I noticed the knobs were scratched so the builder replaced them. You keep giving people advice on how to clean them. Cleaning is not the issue! It is nearly impossible not to touch the knobs with pans that you are removing from the cooktop (center). "Cafe" 36" Cooktop

I grew up with GE appliances' and the old Ronald Reagan ad "at GE progress is our most important product" on TV. This cooktop is FANTASTIC! The design, materials used, workmanship, and operational performance have been "perfect" since it was installed just days ago. Thank you GE you folks "still got it"!!

Works well

Middle of the line

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 7 months of use the knobs are starting to wear and losing color. The markings on the cook top for burner height are also fading.

Beautiful cooktop!

Love my new cooktop. It looks beautiful in my new kitchen renovation and has worked perfectly since turning it on the first time. I was a little bummed to see that scratches fairly easy. I’m sure that’s just due to the material and no fault of GE. I’m ordering a liner to help reduce those over time.

Tremendous value for me

So delighted with this gas cooktop. Besides looking attractive in my kitchen, it’s easy to clean, love the added value of running the metal covers thru the dishwasher when needed. The burners don’t hesitate, even flow, powerful. I especially appreciate the safety knob - with 5 small grandchildren who “ want to help” !

Looks and functions as expected

I just installed the cooktop today but it looks and works as expected so far. I do with the texture of the grates were different. Its a very rough gritty texture.i appreciate the extra knob to turn off the gas. Very thoughtful.

Better Than a WOLF Cooktop!

My husband is a Certified Master Chef and we both agree — this is the best cooktop we have ever owned and we have used many in all the states we have lived in. Cafe is by far THE BEST!
