Would RecommendInstalled on 4x4 post with architectural mailbox brand mounting plate. Very easy process, although the mounting plate wasn't carried at Lowes, but rather the orange big box competitor. Mailbox itself seems very sturdy. Pewter color. My 3 year old can fit his arm in slot when it is open, but can't get the mail out. :) I'd recommend.
