Hides Discoloration Well

GREAT PRIMER, TIME SAVER

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought Valspar high hiding to prime my over my dark chocolate walls. I picked out a light gray for the final color. I was worried I’d have to do more than one coat of primer, but I didn’t! I’m going to prime and paint the green walls next.

Excellent HH primer

I try to keep a gallon of this primer on hand at all times. I have yet to find another primer made by any company that has as good hiding characteristics. I spot prime with this product and then prime with whatever I the job calls for on top of that. This primer can be brushed, rolled or sprayed. Its only drawback if used in sufficient volumes such as to prime an entire room would be its strong odor.

Best Primer I've ever found

And I've used a lot of different brands working on our 16 rental houses. It's so effective I sometimes use it as the finished paint for trim, baseboards and doors.

positively best latex primer

This is positively the best latex primer ever, it covers bright red and anything else you want covered. I was told that Lowe's will no longer be carrying this particular product and I've tried the other primers and none compare to this one. I am covering cigarette smoke covered walls and this covers them with no pre-washing or anything. Very, very happy with the product but unhappy they'll no longer be carrying it.

It lives up to its name

We were redoing a bathroom in our home that had a deep dark red semi gloss paint. We were repainting with a light blue color. The Valspar High-Hiding primer had excellent adhesion on the semi gloss finish and completely covered the dark red color with just a single coat. It made the repainting process so much easier.

Will never use another primer than this!

This is a very good primer. It rolled on great, and it only needed one coat. We covered a very red wall, and a dark brown wall with the one coat. It is much better then the kilz brand. Highly recommend!

Go with the name brand

I purchased 2 gallons to prime a room needing a drastic color change. The pain is way too thick. I think they are using the thickness of the paint to make it "high - hiding". I will return the one gallon I haven't opened and will get the tried and true Bulls-Eye 123 primer.

Good Primer for tough jobs.

While on the expensive side, this primer is good and coats well. I used it to cover up a dark purple to get a lighter color on top of it. Please be aware that as it is applied it looks to be patchy when it dries it really covers up well. You might still need to place a 2nd coat depending on the color you are covering. Price is a little high at 21.00 per gallon but it is money well spent.

Horrible! Do NOT buy!

I have painted my fair share of doors and walls, and this is by far the worst primer ever! I was excited about the one and only time coat as advertised. I have 6 doors to paint, all of them dark wood. I started with the first door. After the third coat of this primer, I am super mad - the dark is still bleeding through. Not only that, but the primer is too liquidy, and it splatters everywhere, even after the roller is ran over a paint grate. This product is going back, and this was my first Vals...

Excellent Hide

Does what it says. The trick to this product is to know that even if the primer doesn't appear to cover in 1 coat and the color beneath shows through, it will still cover once you paint. It will look beautiful. Remember, primer is a sealer, not comparable to a paint itself. The two work together for best coverage. This primer applies smooth and I've never had problems with it. Highly recommended.

Great Primer

Had to cover a dark chocolate paint and newly scabbed in plasterboard prior to painting with a beautiful light cream paint. covered wonderfully and cleaned up easily.

Hides well

Repainting a room that was Hunter Green. We are going to paint it a light grey so I needed to prime it. I used Valspar High-Hiding primer and it did an excellent job. It covered the green and there wasn't any bleeding through.

Excellent High Hider!

The Walls In Our New Home Were A Color That I Hated And Was Very Hard To Cover. This Product Covered The Color So Well I Was Amazed And Extremely Satisfied!

Great Color Cover Up

This product was sold to us to cover up a very difficult dark color. Worked great, and our new color went on with just one coat!

Excellent paint

Been doing a lot of remodeling and painting. This paint goes on easily and smoothly. Covers very well. Wish it was a little cheaper
