What Customers Are Saying
This cabinet paint received mixed reviews. Some customers found it to be a high-quality, durable product with excellent coverage and a beautiful satin finish, especially when proper surface preparation was done. However, many others reported issues like excessive dripping, poor coverage, a flat chalky finish, and the paint staying tacky for weeks. The consensus is that this paint may provide great results if used correctly, but it requires careful preparation and application to achieve the best outcomes.

Would RecommendBought this to repaint a black dresser and this color is not true black, it is more of a dark grey. If you want true black go to store and have them tint a can to the color you want. I had them tint their base to Valspar tricorn black which is true black and it is much better. Otherwise product is very good.
Worsed paint we ever used
Would Not RecommendThis paint is too thin and does not cover well. We had to put on three coats. In the past we used Sherwin Williams or Behr and always were happy with the results.
7 years and it still looks great
Would RecommendI sanded my cabinets down to the bare wood.l aided a sponge roller and got great results. The original factory color was Jacobean with a high gloss. No chipping, flaking, or worn spots and very smooth with the roller brush app and sanding prep.
Smudge fingerprint
Would Not RecommendWhen finished with the cabinet doors and we touched the surface, it leaves a smudge print like sawdust smears. It wipes off with a rag but very visible smudges. Almost like black chalk board paint.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Valspar Cabinet & Furniture enamel. I'm sorry that the paint is not more durable on your cabinet ...
Not an expert, but not a novice.
Would RecommendMy experience is with automotive finishes but my wife wanted a white kitchen. The associate at Lowes pointed me toward this instead of regular latex. He claimed it doesn't need primer but I didn't take his word for it. I was covering older stained oak cabinets so I used a shellac based stain hiding primer after cleaning and light sanding. For the doors & drawers I took them down and sprayed them in the shop. I thinned it down for my sprayer and they turned out amazing with 2 coats. Not wan...
Not good
Would Not RecommendBrand new solid wood table, sanded down. Used the appropriate sealer, waited over 4 hours in-between recoating (2 coats) and the finish is absolutely terrible and splotchy. Used a good quality roller brush. Final coat has sit for over 12 hours and can easily be scratched and scrapped off. a waste of money on brand new wood.

Better than Sherman Williams
I’m not a fan of Valspar interior paint, but I do love this cabinet paint. It goes on thick and smooth with excellent coverage and minimal brush strokes visible. I used the valspar primer underneath.
Great customer service.
The product was good but the color was not what I needed. I returned it with no problems.
Do the prep work anyway......
Would RecommendI made a review of this paint when I used it at first well over a year ago. I was not impressed. It's difficult to work with. It has a thin consistency, which makes painting vertical surfaces tricky. The 2nd time using it, I did all of the prep that it claims you don't have to do. Sanding, cleaning, sanding again, cleaning again. And BAM! Excellent results. There are literally zero brush marks! It looks as if it were sprayed on. Given the proper time to cure, it holds up to daily wear and tear b...
Love this paint (and I've tried them all!)
Would RecommendAs a professional furniture refinisher I've tried nearly every single paint made (from little boutique brands to big box store brands and everything in-between). I'd read the reviews and decided not to try this... until recently a client brought me this paint to use on their nightstands. I was floored by how nice this paint is, it lays beautifully, easy to work with. Regardless of the no sanding/priming claims I found through my own scratch test this paint did not perform as well without primer ...
Most expensive and worst paint I've used
Would Not RecommendI have painted many times with no issues. This paint drys exactly the way it looks wet. I can see the lines where I went around the edges of the cabinet doors and the lines from the roller. I've already done 2 coats and it's still bad. I'm debating doing a third but don't feel like that will fix the problems.

Primer Plus 3 Coats
Would Not RecommendThis paint was recommended by Lowes, but after sanding and priming it still required 3 coats. We will definitely not be using this paint again. It was also a constant struggle with paint collecting in the edges causing continuous dripping, even with a thin coat. A project that should have taken a weekend took all week.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Valspar Cabinet & Furniture Enamel. I'm sorry to hear that the paint was dripping and didn't ...
durable paint
I bought some old previously painted nightstands on Facebook marketplace. the one thing I can say about this paint is that it tries Rock solid. I'm amazed at the number of reviews criticizing adhesion and have to assume that many of the issues noted were from user error. this paint takes a long time to cure but when it does it's indestructible. I didn't find the product to be self leveling which was a disappointment I rolled one coat and I brushed another. it feathers well and should be applied ...
Expensive, Worst Paint Ever
Would Not RecommendI bought this paint for my kitchen and nook cabinets. The biggest problem with this paint is that it requires at least 4-5 coats to look decent. It took over 4 days to prep and paint one cabinet. Do not buy if you are a contractor cause it will take forever to apply. I wish I would have stuck with Sherman WIlliams, which worked great on other cabinets that I painted, but the Lowe's employee recommended this paint.
