Quit working after 1.5 years

Was crazy deep into a weed eating session and was left with a half edged driveway. I consider myself a weekend yard warrior and don’t ask much from lawn equipment. I do however, expect it to show up for game day. I used the trimmer maybe twice a month, or whenever the shame of a raggedy yard became too much to ignore, for a year and a half. It’s happened all at once. It was one of those stupid hot days in Texas where you struggle to find the motivation to step outside, let alone grind out ...

Not happy camper

Only on Sale!

After "1" year of use here is my experience with my Troy WeedEater: Line spool does not auto feed. Motor sputters in use when tilt in certain angles. Would I purchase weedeater again? "Yes." WeedEater was purchased at an outstanding price ($59.50). Would not recommend the purchase at regular price.

Love it cause it’s simple to use

JUNK!!!!

I’ve had this weed eater for only a year, I use it about 5 minutes every other week during the summer months and this piece of junk won’t start at all! You prime and prime and prime the bubble then choke it and it starts then just dies back down. Repeat those steps for 20 minutes then throw it in the trash. It’s pure junk!!!!!!

Not durable for basic use...

I bought this thing for usage about once or twice per month trimming a small property. It went dead after a year and one month of use. This product is just not worth it - it's garbage. Spend the extra money, and get a STIHL or a HUSQVARNA. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Don't waste your money

These products a cheaply made. They break easily and cannot be repaired. My first one lasted almost one year when the pull-start mechanism locked up. Special tools will help you disassemble a few parts but I couldn't remove the pull-start mechanism. I trashed this one and replaced it with another because I had purchased 3 additional attachments. I had the new one 6 months when it stopped like it ran out of gas. I rotated it to see the gas tank (it was about half full) and a broken bolt drops out...

This Weed Eater is a Nightmare!

Used this for 15 minutes and it wouldn't start again. Took it to a neighbor who repairs tools and he tried & tried and said somethings wrong with igniter. It's a 4-1/2 hour return/drive to get it repaired under warranty. Would need 2 trips. Bought it at the end of last year and didn't put it together until this year. Don't stress yourself out with this useless garbage.

Works great after adjusting carb

At first, I thought I'd bought a piece of junk. After adjusting the carb, it runs very well! The string feed mechanism works fair. Previous trimmers I've used over the last 35+ years worked better. (You'd think the string feed would be a known science by now.)

Won’t start

I bought this a couple of years ago and after 2 short months it wouldn't stay running. They replaced it under warranty, and it ran the rest of the summer ok. The following spring after a few times using it, I once again couldn't keep it running. I fought with the choke the entire time using it, and had to keep it at full throttle and half choked in order to finish my yard. I will never buy another troybilt product again. Unimpressed.

Good one its weights less than 4cycle one I have. Started easy and stays idling. Has the power to run pole saw attachment I use to trim tree limbs.

Much better than the reviews might suggest!

Following the demise of my Ryobi string trimmer, I began searching for a replacement. When I noticed that Lowes had the Troy-Bilt 25-cc 2-cycle 17-in Straight Shaft Gas String Trimmer on sale at 50% off, I thought the savings was worth the risk (as noted in some negative reviews). The trimmer started on the first pull and ran flawlessly. While it may not be the best trimmer on the market, it does the job.

Great trimmer for the price

I purchased this trimmer when it was half off. I couldn't be happier with it. The trimmer is a little heavy but is built with great quality considering how cheap I got it for. I wish I would have bought another one when I had the chance.

SUPER BUY

BOUGHT TWO OF THESE. ONE FOR MY NIECE AND ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER. THEY WERE ON SALE FOR HALF PRICE, SO REALLY I GOT TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE! THEY ARE EASY TO START IF YOU READ THE MANUAL AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. ALSO EASY TO RE-STRING WHICH MEANS A LOT TO ME BECAUSE OF TRIMMING ALONG A CHAIN LINK FENCE. THE FENCE CUTS THE LINE EVERY FIVE MINUTES BECAUSE I PUT THE TRIMMER TOO CLOSE. LOWES HAS A GOOD PRICE ON STRING TOO!! LOL!
