Craftsman Vacuum filter replacement

The replacement filter for my vacuum fit in place without having to use the plate and nut that came as original equipment. However, after running the vacuum for 15 minutes the vacuum stopped. I let the vacuum cool for an hour and tried to start it with no results. The next day the vacuum started and has run fine ever since the initial problem which I suspect was due to over heating. The filter is a good replacement and I like the way it fits.

This filter replaced the old screw on attachment required to hold the old filters. Works very well.

Get the job done

I have used 2 of these now over the course of a year and they work well. They fit my craftsman shop vac and are easy to change out. Work great for frequent use in my home I am renovating.

Good filter lousy packaging

The filter is great and works well. The problem is Lowe’s online shipping and packaging. This is the third product I’ve bout online for either pickup at the store or shipping directly to my home. All have had some damage to the them. This filter was bent in on one spot. A pickup item looks like they picked the worst boxed item to get rid of it. Wish they’d take their time on packing items better.

after been put on hold for 5 minutes. someone came on and after what department i told her hardware. put on hold and its been 20 minutes now...WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

"Green stripe" (17804) replacement...sort of

Drill a 1/4 in. hole in the top. Leaves a 1/4 to 1/2 in. gap at the other end, so rip the plastic end off of the old filter and use to fill the gap.

Different but better.

My 12 year old Ridgid 5HP shop vacuum needed a new filter. The old one had no metal bracing on the inside and required a plastic end piece and nut to hold it in place. This new filter has steel mesh bracing on the inside and simply press-fits into place. Bigger, better, and easier than the original.

Mud, not glue on the cover, breaks.

The closed end was put together with mud, not glue. It breaks after a couple of usage. It's said reusable. How can it be reused while cannot even last for one-usage? The lid should stay on the filter for the lifetime, but it felt off. The mud, supposed to act as glue, felt down by itself in tiny pieces, see photo.

Not durable enough for routine cleaning!

This model used to be manufactured as well as one could expect for a $20 reusable filter. I know because I had one, bought from the same lowes store, that lasted over five years. When I needed a replacement I bought this same type and it lasted about a week before becoming structurally compromised. A shopvac filter needs to be cleaned often and be able to withstand the shock of tapping the dust out of the pleats. I am very pleased to say the filter fits and worls better than the original without the lock nut. I have seen no loss of suction.

It says it works with Rigdid Shop vac. I had to modify the filter.
