Use the recommended foam rollers.
I didn't know what to expect. We used this to paint over a formica counter that had previously been painted (in a bad way). We did not tint the base coat and opted for solid white. We put down 5 base coats on current counter before used step 2. It covered everything really well. I would recommend this product and would use it again if needed to "clean things up" & couldn't afford new counters.
