What Customers Are Saying
The jointer is generally well-received and capable for hobbyist and small-scale woodworking, with praise for its performance, value, and ease of use. However, some users report issues with fence adjustment and alignment, as well as quality control problems. Overall, the jointer appears to be a solid choice for budget-conscious woodworkers, though it may require extra effort to set up and maintain precision.

A barely adequate machine.
Would Not RecommendThe power is great for such a small tool. It has no bogging issues when taking small bites on very hard woods (purpleheart, osage orange, bubinga). The size and weight make it great for small shops. I lug mine outside when I need it. Mine needed no adjustment out of the box. So whats up with the 3 stars you ask? Two things: The table is soft, wood scratches it. I had had to buff it down and pack it with wax a few times now. Second, and this would be a deal breaker, had known how bad the fence i...

Porter Cable 10 Amp Bench Jointer Review
Would RecommendAlthough it took three (3) tries to get a unit that had not been used or damaged, the 3rd time was the charm ... Lowe's took care of me and the 3rd unit was brand new with no damages and the set up took me only about 30 minutes ... I used right away on over 50 boards of various thicknesses to shave off anywhere from 1/32" of an inch to the maximum of 1/8" and it worked absolutely great ... Several types of wood, as I was using reclaimed pallets and the unit did not struggle what-so-ever ... I am...

Too light duty
Would Not RecommendI got no value out of this unit. During operation, the variable speed knob would always work its way down to a minimum. Side bar, variable speed is probably the most pointless feature I could imagine on a jointer. At any rate, this unit died the second time I used it. This conveniently occurred after I was out of my return window at Lowe's. When I contacted Porter Cable for a warranty claim, I was sent to a "local" service center (5 hours away). The service center said a lot of the parts have be...

Solid!
Would RecommendAs a hobbyist woodworker, I have been looking at upping my game with a jointer. I'm glad I waited until the price came down on this one! This benchtop jointer gets good reviews from many of the woodworking sites and hardware review sites. My only complaint is the fence. It could be better constructed and easier to true up. Other than that, this thing chews would like a champ. If you're buying one, make sure to pick up some extra blades while you can as they have discontinued this jointer.

Best buy for small shop/hobbiest needs
Would RecommendI shopped around and compared many jointers, I settled on the P.C. because of 4 things, variable speed control, compact light aluminum construction for moving around in a small hobby shop, P.C. brand name, and Lowe's sale price beat the competition by nearly $100. I originally was going to get a delta from a competitor, but it had no speed control, was cast iron, (which I know is a positive for most situations, but not mine) and cost nearly $100. more. Lowe's P.C. jointer fit my small budget ...
