Missing basic features from older systems

Recently purchased one of these new 4K systems. I had a 5 year old 1080P system and thought I would upgrade. Will return as basic features that did exist no longer do. Expected it to be better quality video and add and enhance features from the older application. Not the case. Although the video recording quality seems good, the system is now missing basic features such as being able to record audio. Very good pairing with an alarm system.

Very good pairing with an alarm system. If I receive an alarm I can view what's transpiring at my home. I can also check for packages at my front door.

Doesn’t work with all their cameras

I have purchased two other night owl systems over the years and those systems came with two different camera models. The second system worked with the cameras that it came with (CM-DP8L-B) and the previous cameras (CM-C20XL-BU-JF) but this DVR does not work with the DP8L cameras. Additionally, this DVD runs HOT!! Too hot to touch.

Good while it lasted

Purchased a DP8 series 12 Channel wired system. Sam's Club. Great clarity fairly easy to install. The android application was useless, after 6 months as it did not connect with my phone. Sadly the hard drive simply stopped operating after 19 months and warranty is only one year.

app is not user friendly so far getting hard

Awesome DVR

This is the best version yet, I love how easy it is to setup, the connection on phone is faster than older system & the ability to zoom in on the pictures is great, I'm definitely going to update my other location with this better setup

Horrible night vision and then some

I bought this system in late January (now mid March) all my cameras do is click now when it gets dark and then I get NO picture what so ever on those cameras! Extremely disappointed! Plus only records movement even though it shows option to record all the time, which I have on, and still only records when there’s movement! Completely pointless to even have and a waste of money if I can see anything at night and record

Terrible system

I originally purchased a 1080 system and had many issues hiring out the problems. Decided to go with the 4K Wireless. Terrible decision. Cameras communication is terrible. DVR software for playback is difficult and poorly designed. Speaking with technicians, most do not have any technical background except what's written in their predetermined script. I would not buy their system.

Great DVR for the Money

Great customer service and equipment

I have had my 16 channel wired DVR for over 10 years. It has worked flawlessly with the exception of a camera failure after about 6 years in service. I highly recommend this company. I have used recordings on my DVR to support the police. This is installed on my home. The images are clear and night vision works great. I have one PTZ camera and it also works great. Perfect replacement dvr & Easy setup

I purchased this nightowl 16 channel dvr for a customer's small business store and it has all the bells and whistles with very easy set up.

Stopped working after two months

I bought the 12 channel dvr thinking it would last me at least a couple years but instead it only lasted a couple of months. It says they have “on demand” customer support but every time I try to call they hang on before I can get to a representative. Stay away from these cheap products. I paid about 750 for this and two months later it’s trash.

The DVR does what it needs to do

We hooked this DVR up to another set of cameras already hard wired in our home. (That system was through Q-See who apparently went out of business during the pandemic. The DVR we had for the Q-See system had started making noises and we believe the fan was starting to go). This works perfectly EXCEPT our TV is only HD and we didn't realize it needed to be a 4K in order to put the program onto the TV itself. Almost 5 star

Cameras work amazing and when you replay can zoom into crazy close but for some reason 2 of the 4 go black and white at night. Can't seem to have these 2 cameras color 24/7.

Not so great features

I have this equipment for 3 weeks now and there are some features to improve: definitely the App; besides not so user friendly it doesn’t respond fast enough when want to have access for a quick view or to check a sensor alert. Also I have to close it totally very often to make it respond and load the cameras. The other not so good features are the cameras speakers and the siren. Those aren’t good quality and hard to understand the prerecorded message or when having a conversation by the two way...

Excellent coverage

No photos for security reasons. System performs as expected. Added features are a plus. I had the early version and one camera failed. Could not get a replacement so was forced to upgrade. This came at a cost but family security comes firstfirst
