Would Not RecommendI was redoing my pine kitchen counter tops when my old craftsman broke, so I thought I'd "upgrade". The only good thing i can say is that it catches dust well. Its heavy and off balanced. No matter how you set the tracking, the belt just did whatever it wanted to do. You're probably only getting about 6" of actual sanding area because of the way the pulleys are designed and forget it if you need to sand within 3" from a wall, because that's as far as you have from the sanding plate to the rolle...

I went with corded because 1) 90% of work would be in shop 2) I’ve used other battery powered tools that when used continually for longer periods they slowed, needed a break and unless you’ve got plenty of spare batteries it’s a pain! With continuing use, the rear trailing edge of the thin metal platen bottom surface becomes sharpened by the inside of the belt. This happens because the platen metal covering is thin, slightly higher than the drive wheel, and the belt cannot be prevented from slowly tapering the metal to a razor-sharp condition from the belt continually moving past the trailing edge.
