Nice lock but needs work

Iv had this lock for maybe 2yrs. And it worked great until a few months ago. It was completely dead without a warning. I replaced the batteries which is a pain. After a few weeks the lock was dead again without warning. No beeps, lights. The batteries only remove from the top, so i have to remove my deadbolt to change out batteries. Not a good design. I dont know why the lock keeps draining batteries, but i plan to replace it with a different lock as this one is no longer reliable.

Died after 2 years

Electronics died after 2 years. batteries last 1 day and lock is useless.

Installed, Worked Great for 3 Days

After working without an issue for 3 days, the bottom 2 buttons - 1/2 and 9/0 stopped functioning. Now have to redo and stay on hold with kwikset's customer support for eternity.

Batteries last and last

I have had this lock for about 3 years. I haven't had to replace the batteries yet. The lock is used daily and has worked flawlessly.

Programming process unnecessarily complicated

The BAD: This electronic lock is crap compared to other electronic locks. Cheap plastic parts on the inside (mainly the shaft that rotates and opens the door) and the programming process is far more complicated than it need be - almost like it was developed by a room full of monkeys randomly hitting keystrokes. The GOOD: I like the ability to rekey the lock so that I can have an electronic lock on one door and a regular door lock on a second door so that both locks can use the same key. Still...

Stay away from this lock set. I have installed thousands of lock sets. I used to do home repair professionally. So, I do know what I’m talking about. This thing won’t let you program your code and when I finally got it in and tested it several times before closing the door. I walked out the door, locked it and tried to unlock with my code and it wouldn’t unlock. I used the pass key and tried to reprogram it, even tried the factory reset several times. I Have this inside my home to lock my bedroom and closets for years They are one of my most important feathers of must have to insure wondering people that might be to there for a party and get curious and roam inside your house!

It Worked Well for 3+ Years

I simply loved the convenience of this lock and recommended it to others. I've had it for several years and then one day I had to put the numbers in several times. I've been using mine daily for over two years and still on the first set of batteries. Very surprised at how long the batteries have lasted. Just cheap Ray O Vac alkaline batteries also from Lowes.

Keypad Stopped Working

Like most of the 1 star ratings I had a bad experience. Within a year they keypad stopped working. I wasn't sure exactly when I bought it, said around a year ago. Tech support said it's been over a year so it's not covered but if I bought a new one I could get another year of warranty on that one...brilliant. My girlfriend put this on less than 5 minutes and she’s not the most handy! Super easy to install.
