Phasing out the 80 volt

Over the years I have acquired quite a few of the Kobalt 80volt tools. The edger, tiller, pole saw, blowers and even the weed eater (String Trimmer). The neck of my trimmer broke yesterday, and I called and was told to take it back to Lowes. I was told the 80 volt was no longer available. I got an instore credit instead! All I wanted was the part for the neck to hold guard and head on! Now I have to start replacing my entire system, i guess!

Lasted ONE YEAR and one month. What can I say. Lowe's would not replace it (at least the Lowe's in Kill Devil Hills would not). They refunded the purchase and offered a new one at just over twice as much money. Save your money...shop elsewhere

This electric weed eater is tough as nails.

Ease of operation.

I had one of the 80v original weed wackers, problem was I could not find a replacement head because Kobalt had their own design. called Lowe's " don't make " Kobalt " not available " after getting my point across to Kobalt they gave me a authorization number said take it to Lowe's. spoke with a manager and said you are right. started to order but the ASM said I have two in top stock that someone canceled!!!! my lucky day! went home with a brand new model!!! if you have a problem with the head! ...

My experience with this Kobalt Trimmer has been absolutely the best I have ever had for over 7 years and this 80v tool performs flawlessly. Because of this performance I bought a Kobalt 80v chainsaw and the air blower. Kobalt provides a 5-year warranty and now I see why, their tools are amazing and last a long time.

A new battery and charger when the one you already

After one year the "bump" head wore-out. They should last several years. I am trying to find a new one. Apparently its a universal problem, Lowes do not have any , they said these is a 30 day wait, my wont be in until I start raking leaves.

You will have the MOST DIFFICULT TIME of your life trying to remove the head to replace it! Good luck! Forced to give it 1 star to send review.

No Maintenance Required

No oil, no spark plugs, no filters, no carburetors to deal with. Just charge the battery and restring it. I've had mine for 2 years and my dad's had the same model for at least 6 or 7. We've never had a problem with either.

Beware of attachments. They don’t fit . Check it.

Works great. I got the attachment capable version but the two that I bought, hedge trimmer and chain saw wouldn’t fit. The spindle inside wasn’t ground down far enough and it wouldn’t snap in place.

Useless - bump spool replacement unavailable.

It's just useless. Don't waste your money, especially if you are new to the 80v battery environment. If anything goes wrong with the spool head, the entire thing is unusable. Including the perfectly fine motor and $$$$ batteries. The attachments are limited. And you can't even just buy a replacement string trimmer attachment. So what's the point?

Powerful Trimmer

It is a powerful trimmer. Heavier than I thought it would be, but the lift ring works well with my shoulder harness to make it fairly effortless.

Thought this was an upgrade

Bought this to replace my 80v trimmer as this one has the option to use attachments as well, first job I used it in it shut off 20 minutes in. Changed batteries, let it cool down and it still wouldn't power back on. The power light remains on when a battery is put in. Called Kobalt and was told to take it back to the store for a replacement or refund. Don't waste your time or money.
