Maybe the worst purchase I've ever made from Lowes

This product has been so insanely bad, it's soured me on ever buying anything Kobalt ever again. My issues started from the bump head feeder simply not working. As other reviews have stated, it just doesn't work/always gets stuck. Manually feeding line every ten-fifteen minutes is an enraging nuisance. Then there's the battery. When it charges, it charges okay. It lasts a decent amount of time. But we literally had to jump the battery with a car battery one time when it was fully depleted! I...

Great trimmer

I have been getting away from my Stihl gas powered tools to cordless and to be honest I have been very happy with the Kibalt 40V line. I have a trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer and all have worked flawlessly and the batteries are all holding up for years except on which was replaced under warranty. I think the warranty process should be smoother like returning the batteries to the store but one has to spend a quite a bit of time emailing/calling customer support, sending pics, receipts etc. I neve...

Don't waste your money

Because I bought this I have punished myself for 3 seasons using it. It is NOT user friendly. If you want to stop every 3 minutes or so to adjust the string then buy it. If your neighbors don't mind you swearing in your yard then but it. I am treating myself to a real weed eater this season.

Came used with missing part; just so so operation

Just so so in weed wacking because it was very difficult to extend the trimmer string to its proper length after a few minutes of wacking. One further star off for missing part, the edge guard, which Kobalt customer service says they do not have in stock.

Awesome & Versatile Yard Tool

Works very well and is lightweight and easy to use! No need to mess with it worry about buying gas, or having a long enough cord or even to be able to find and outdoor outlet. Missing Part in re packed box

This trimmer was on sale, and perhaps because it was a previous return. Opened re-taped box and found one part missing, the edge guard, as well as the product already unpackaged and scratched in places.

Dead tool due to battery

I have several Kobalt 40V cordless tools for my yard after trying the electric route from Stihl equipments (which I still own). As usual batteries always fail and the replacement batteries are so expensive, sometimes cheaper to buy the tool w/ battery on sale or clearance. The Kobalt batteries don't last long first year or less fine then degrades rapidly and finally dead (red light on charger) - way before the 3 year warranty. easy to use

It is so easy and at my age I run out of juice before the battery does,pulling the rope on my gas weed eater takes it's toll on me but i pop in a battery and i am good to go.thanks Kobalt

5 yr warranty does not cover anything

The warranty paper work say the spool is not cover, I assume the rest will be covered, That not the case per warranty department which informs me verbally everything in contact with the spool is not cover also. So what is cover for the 5 YR warranty? I spoke with the manager of the warranty department and consumer care. None want to do the right thing and cover the written warranty, in which they agree was not clear. Warranties are always good until you go to use them.

the rewind spool feature is frustrating and new replacement spools get expensive over tiem ... aftermarket heads are not available ... I finally hit upon the idea of cutting 18inch lenghts of string and individually " respooling " each one and locking it into position with a slight turn of the bump head ... really wish it respooled like the instructions say

String hard to use

I spend more time dealing with the string not springing back out then working on trimming grass.

Re-stringing sucks. Battery is hard to unload. If you actually do manage to re-string it, good luck getting the assembly back on. Power does last a very long time. As per my headline, I'm sure there are better machines available.

Rewinding string

I went to redone the string because the head popped off and per the direction from the book from kobalt it is not right. I called kobalt to complain and all she said is your right it is not right and didn't tell the the right way instead pushed me off to lowes. Now I have a brand new trimmer that I have to figure out how to put new string back in.

Death trap! Spool cap EXPLODED!

After 2 years of use, the spool cap exploded, breaking into 4 pieces (see photo). The metal piece that broke out of the housing shot like a bullet, damaging the stucco of my home, and ricocheted off my house another 50 feet into the street. My guess is that piece traveled around 80 feet. My young children were playing outside, but were luckily out of range. okay performer

power is good. battery weight balance takes getting used to. arms hurt the first few times using. I wish the length was adjustable. a little long for me. the "bump" feed is terrible. does not advance most of the time but I found that after you bump it and then when it hits the grass it abruptly advances. the bumper on this thing is not going to last long.....

First power failed after a few uses. Lowes replaced it. The second unit failed at 1st season use.

Head broke, won’t honor warranty

It was decent for a year or 2 until the trimmer head (the part that you attach the replacement spool to) wore out. I checked Lowes and then called Kobalt for a part, and they told me to take it in under warranty (I was happynit came with a 5 YEAR warranty). Even though the date code indicates it was manufactured less than 4 years ago, the store wont replace without receipt. You know why I don’t have the receipt? Balance is very bad; top heavy. Threading is a nightmare every time. And good luck removing the battery on your own. DO NOT BUY.
