Doesn't work at all. Packaging on the box says, "Works with virtually all popular garage door openers." After hours on the phone with two levels of Iris tech support, and eventually the manufacturer's tech support, I was told that this device is incompatible with my Chamberlain opener. Iris website lists a few garage door openers that are incompatible, but mine is not on that list. Do not buy this product! It is extremely intermittent. Only works half the time. Save your money and get something more reliable. Cheap is cheap quality. I’d suggest spending more on something that works all the time. What use is it if it doesn’t work when you need it to? They don’t seem to care to work out the bugs in their system or they stop supporting older models to the extent that you have to keep upgrading therefore making them more and more money. So far so good. It works as it should. They only issue I had was with the tilt switch mechinism after removing the battery tab. The cover was on perfectly but underneath the cover is a little post that is press able and it was not lined up properly which caused the system think there was an obstruction. After figuring that out, it has been perfect.

Does what it is supposed to do but the quality of the item and unstable performance does not warrant the price tag. You can not stop the opener half way or reverse as with standard garage door controls, only all the way open or all the way closed and the delay in operation is rather annoying.

Good product for a reasonable price. Nothing special, but a good product that does its job. Instructions are really lacking. You do not need the IRIS Hub. It works with Samsung SmartThings for example without Iris.

Should have listened to the other reviews

I bought this controller 6 months ago. Read the reviews that said that it worked fine for a year or so. Fortunately mine either fine for 6 months but now doesn't do anything but chirp. Won't connect to my SmartThings hub anymore. Will send it back under the one year warranty, but not optimistic that the next one will last any longer. I have many other smart home devices that have worked fine for over 2 years.

Lasts 10 months to 2 years - don't waste your $$$$

I used my with an Abode alarm system. It is a re-badge'd Linear garage door opener (a z-wave compatible device). It worked well for almost 2 years before it decided to stop working. I paired it with the system again but it appears the Z-wave radio is burned out because it states that it has a weak signal just a foot away from my hub. Searching Amazon reviews and the Internet, it would seem that the expected lifespan is anywhere between 10 months to 2 years. Don't waste your money.

I had issues with the functioning of this device, and had to call the manufacturer's tech support department. I had set everything up correctly, and knew that. Well as it turns out, this gateway can only work with a system that has a simple, doorbell type garage door button inside your garage, and is not compatible with any opener with say a motion sensor or light control switch on the button. correct that this must be paired sitting next to hub for best pairing results... Now - after a year of use - it is disconnected from hub - i am attempting to repair... no luck after 45 mins... PITA ! and when i push the link button, i get one beep - then on the controller a red led flashes and another two beeps. Try and find what that means in the instructions? These work but the most annoying part is...

I have had 2 of these and when they are working they are good. The problem is when the open/close sensor needs a new battery you have to remove it from Iris replace the battery and re-add which is a GIANT pain. That is this products greatest weakness to me. So otherwise during that 3 or so months they work great. I really cannot recommend them for this reason.

I installed this in July 2016. After getting it physically installed on the high ceiling of my garage I had to pair it to my SmartThings hub. It is clear once you open the manual that this is a certified z-wave plus product. It quickly paired with SmartThings and provided open/close status as well as the ability to open and close the door on command. You can voice control by adding Alexa, google home, etc to SmartThings.
