Shoddy product

Purchased this product a year ago but did not use them until last week when my garden lighting needed some mending. Well....they do not strip the wire correctly as the part that holds down the wire casing constantly slips...yes. .I turned the wheel for more pressure and the wire still slips. I really would like a refund but I am way beyond the Lowe's 90 day return policy.

Will not strip 22 AWG wire

Will not strip 22 AWG wire. Tension adjusted to maximum setting and still does not perform, simply mars and damages the insulation around the wire. Don't purchase this tool if you are using small gauge wire. I contacted IRWIN for a replacement just to make sure it wasn't my specific tool and they required a proof of purchase and a photo of the tool. Why isn't the photo enough proof? No replacement tool provided, and no further correspondence from Irwin for a month now.

these are junk the set i got at harbor freight are way better for 1/2 the price...

Same issue as others

They worked awesome for about a week. After about a week of use it stopped stripping the wire fully. It would just shave off the insulation a bit. It would take 3-5 try’s to finally fully strip the wire. Tried adjusting the jaws, no luck. I was hoping for a quality product being from Irving…I went to exchange but Lowe’s was out. So I just returned them and purchased a pair of Klein tools ones.

Fits perfect in my hand. At first it didn't seem to want to cut unless you held the wire against the back. So I went and bought the Klein as well for a back up in case. I prefer these over Klein. Don't know what happened, but they started to cutting and I have cut 40 feet of wire so far and with my left over wire I still play around with testing it. Very happy so far! Must of needed operated a few times as nothing was loose. Also it cuts nice with minimum marks on the wire coating. Ident...

Wouldn't strip 18 gauge wire

I bought these specifically to retrofit 33 fluorescent fixtures with LED bulbs. Wouldn't strip 18 gauge wire, adjusted tension to tightest setting, that didn't help. Borrowed a pair of who knows how old GardnerBender automatic strippers and they worked good. Wouldn't buy these if you plan on retrofitting fluorescent fixtures to led.

Best wire stripper

I purchased the Irwin Wise-grip Automatic Wire Stripper primarily for stripping wires. This is easily the best set of wire strippers I have ever used. There has never been an issue with wires slipping or damage to the copper wires themselves. I have stripped several wires at the same time with perfect results. I have never stripped wire so quickly. The wire cutter however leaves a lot to be desired. Although it does cut, it smashed the wires. I have old arthritic hands and found to crimpe...

Don' buy other wire strippers, this is the BEST!

Best wire stripers on the market. They work extremely well. The other stripper on the market do not even come close to the quality of this tool. Other brands look the same but most are lesser quality junk. The other wire stripper that have a completely different design are also not better. I have also tried every other different designed wire striper on the marker and these are the best.

It stripped my patience and not much else.

I'm in the same boat as a few other reviewers. Won't grab/hold wire one side, and won't strip it on the other. I feel like I already knew that something like this was way too good to be true. If it wasn't, I'd have met a low voltage technician, or an electrician, that had used something similar. 15 years in, and I haven't met that person yet. (Oh, and btw, I AM a low voltage tech, so what's that tell you?)

Does not work

The tool stripped the romex casing, but the coating on the wire it was useless. I figured I was doing something wrong so I watch multiple videos and I was using the tool correctly. It did not work as advertised. I do not recommend this. I returned it.
